You shouldn't let things get to you mate. This is just an internet forum and no one on here is your best mate, I certainly wouldn't divulge anything on here or think of anyone as a true friend as often people hide behind a keyboard. It's more of a social network as opposed to deep friendship and as such there are often differences of opinion, misunderstanding and sometimes we get into fights. Everyone does it, some are more upfront and do it face-to-face and others just poke from the background by getting others to do their dirty work but at the end of the day everyone is as bad as each other. Either way there are often fall outs and disagreements - take it with a pinch of salt and don't take it to heart.
It's a forum with cyber *friends*......come in here to chat and have a good fight every now and again, just like family really

Thank you for taking the time to think and post, but maybe it is you who is reading too much into this? BE is a forum, one of millions, and we are just ships that pass in the night. I have no need or desire for 'cyber' friendships, sometimes it is just good to hang out with nice people on the internet. It certainly isn't family - you can't choose them! No loss either way - some very good times were had, but time to move on.
Hope you come back soon mate.

How do you report a thread? I was tempted a while ago when the handbagging was getting a bit much, but instead, (as I did not know how, ) I asked people to get on track. I feel this thread should be moved to the Take it Outside section, as it has become rather vituperative rather than a calm discussion on the merits or otherwise of hunting.

I've heard that and it's not without an element of truth but who can sit by and watch people starve whilst there is still a possibility to help? The world just can't seem to wake up to the fact it's a population issue. Contraception, contraception, contraception!! Australia is a case in point. A westernised high polluter country with a third world population growth policy. Unless countries are completely self sufficient there's no population balance. You can't have a world with a globalised food production system but localised population dynamics. It's a recipe for Malthusian catastrophe and the impact of the modernisation of the two biggest countries in the world have a good chance of triggering disaster. The answer to an ageing population isn't filling the world with younger people!!
I work for an aid bank, and I was shocked to hear a volunteer nurse tell me that I should "adjust to the culture and attitude of the country".
IMHO it's total crap like that that has led to the problem. We either need to change third world cultures, or keep out and let them die. Supplying fresh water for 50 million will result in a demand for fresh water for 75 million a year later.
Mind you, the same problem exists here in the first world (or Australia for those who don't like the place). Except here it's mainly the single mothers who take advantage of a welfare economy who need re-educating.

That then goes to all mods for that forum, all supermods, and Sue

But back on topic - I thought hunting was banned in the UK?
I saw the local bloodhound pack meet in the town market place on Boxing Day - all those useless lumps of lard in fur coats did was beg for food around the spectators. I don't think they kill anything.
(I am talking about the hounds, not the women)...

I saw a woman scavenging for food on a coral atol. She had bare feet and was walking across coral that was hurting me, and I was wearing shoes.
She carried a baby in her arms. The baby had a disposable nappy. We couldn't feed her, but we could sell her diapers....
I took her photograph and then instantly deleted it. All she had was her dignity, and my photo was stealing that from her. I took one from behind to capture the moment but not her soul.
I had the same problem in Thailand a few years ago. I saw a cage truck full of young girls who had just finished a hard day on a building site. The scene looked like something from a concentration camp. Girls packed in a cage, dirty and wearing rags. They saw me an instantly gave that wonderful smile that only the Thai can give. I raised my camera and then thought better off it.
I have been down in my life, when all I had was a bit of dignity. I wouldn't thank someone to take my photograph at that time.
If I am ever dying, with the vultures waiting, please shoo the cameraman away and let me die with what dignity would be left. The vulture I can live with.

I am a crap photographer, but I want to remember my life when Alzheimer's kicks in ( hereditary in my family) so I take a fair few photos.

Photography as An intrusion on the soul....
Yup... Understand that completely.... News photographers ARE often the scum of the earth.
But are there times when the need for the world to know outweighs individual right to privacy....?
Anyhoo...
Is fox hunting still banned in the UK???
If it is, this whole thread has been an exercise in intellectual masterbation hasnt it?

I'm looking for the coral girl photo. It was one of my better ones. It doesn't change the world though. I will post it if I find it.
I saw an excellent Japnese movie on the plane from Dubai yesterday. "We can't change the world" - exactly about the topic. I had tears running on my cheeks on the plane - The Aids girl broke my heart.

Who started the bloody thread???? Jeez.... They ought to be shot!
Or perhaps, it would be more appropriate to be hunted down with a pack of baying hounds and ripped to shreds
Last year I Worked with, and am now good friends with a girl whose business and life " I " helped ruin by the boycotting of Saffa products in the 80s.... If we can be mates after all these years, The world is a better place already...

The jury is still out on South Africa - if it goes anything like Rhodesia then you did more than ruin a few businesses - an entire country may be buggered. Still, it's far better to be subservient to an asshole who is the same color than to one who is a bit whiter......

Looking at the corruption and the crime and violence...
Not just there...
Looks like one evil is simply replaced by another
And for once I dont have an answer... Or even a theory as to what the answer may be....

That's impressive considering I'm rarely here.
