And Live Aid? The world doesn't want to know - if a global event like Live Aid failed, a few photos isn't going to make much difference. Perhaps we need more bleeding hearted liberals?

Easy, solves itself in a couple of generations. Less girls = less wombs. The policy is supposed to be bad for population growth though If they continue to choose "luckier" boys the population will certainly decline, job done.

His job was to capture images to bring to the restof the world... He went everywhere, not just the sudan, remember any of his pictures from Rwhanda? No? Not many people really want to....
He saw many many people dying of starvation every day... This child was just one of them.
I remember at the time of his death the discussions raged about how it was this picture, this child that drove him to it... And at the time I remember being incensed that his entire body of work was almost forgotten because of this one image....

That was one photo in a lifes work that involved capturing some of the worlds worst attrocities on film. i can't pretend to know what it was that eventually triggered his death, what I do know is that no normal human being could so vividly capture what he did in so many disaster/war zones without being affected.

He was never "just a photographer"
What a shame that all he did, all he believed in, all he risked and what he gave was wasted on people who have no appreciation of it

Hmmm.. But you see, he wasnt an armchair liberal, he was an activist... A man who spent his life capturing social wrongs and injustices, moral injustice, evilness... He didnt sit around talking about doing summit... He actually got off his arse and did summit... Put his life at risk...

Picking up one child from the streets and paying for his treatment may seem a noble act but the real benefit comes from changing the situation entirely and if his photography can change the way in which people view charity, this in turn will get people to donate, the donations can aid in the education and training and resources of areas that most need it.
No way on Gods earth was he to blame for that. A very haunting image that will go on telling a story long after we die and who knows what difference for the better that will make.
