If I remember correctly, so did my sons.

Although dependents do have full work rights I believe a dependant of 18 or over who takes advantage of it may lose their dependancy.

This means when you come to either renew the 457 or apply for a PR visa they cannot be included.

Please humour me and check this as I am not exactly an expert but would feel better if perhaps you put a thread on the IMMI forum to clarify it. :)

Bix is right. If you son does work, then he will have to apply for a PR visa in his own right if you decide to go for one. The only way to keep him on your application is for him to remain dependant on you for food, clothes etc. :)

Sorry to hear this ..

Haven't got much else to add what Bix and Penny have said - let her get over her rebellion, then maybe she will give herself the chance to like it here. At the moment, I think the rebellion...the stand for her say - is upmost on her mind.
She is not old enough to make the decision to stay in England...she is a minor, without the control she wants. Don't you think that this is all a reaction to this??

1) Get her over here.

2) Tell her because of her age she would have to go into a home if she stayed in the Bonnieland and there's no way that's happening.

3) Tell her when she's officially a grown up at 18 she can decide what to do. If that means going back then fair dues.

My lads were 16 & 18 when we emmigrated. Neither wanted to come.
Told the youngest as above.
Told the eldest he was a grownup so could suit himself, stay in UK and fend for himself. He came with us ;)

They were 19 and 21 on the 12 May. I offered them the fare back to UK but got no takers. They are living their lives here now

i did the same as bix.
with the same out come;)

now u dont want me to come over there and slap some sence into u lassie?:p

shes still a kid, she might be a bigger one, but she still needs told whats best for here:)

Meant to put Britain or Scotland :o

Eitherways....she's not old enough to make that decision.

And once she has got over making her stand, she may well like it here... but that will be based on experience of living here....not listening to what her friends are saying.

Mags, you need to find your teen a nice aussie boyfriend when she comes back over......wild horses wouldn't be able to drag her back to bonnie scotland once she's in-lurve

Good luck hun. :)
