Would you need to keep detailed time sheets?

What should be really simple, sounds like it could be a nightmare of paperwork and organisation. Good luck.
yeh it still applys 20 hours per week i would have to record all of my work hours and make sure i didnt go over

Also you would need an ABN and you cant get one on a student (temporary) visa. Are you not keeping your web business going?

Don't want to rain on any parade but loads of places, including Woolies don't like to take people on who are limited to less than 25 hours a week. Others have come unstuck on that one unfortunately. Hopefully you will find something but please don't think you'll fall into work when you're stuck with that 20 hour limit. However, others have found work so who knows?

Lots of students do get jobs though, like everywhere else.

Also not to rain on your parade, but have you seen that Queensland have taken hairdressing off their sponsorship list? The list was updated last week and hairdressing is no longer on it. If I remember right your partner was coming here to study hairdressing.

It's really not a well paying job, either for the most part. The work is hard with being on your feet, hands in chemicals all day and bitchy women never happy with what you've done. I would not want to do it.

If you have limited electrical experience and can show this, you may be able to to apply for an "Restricted electrical license" which will allow you to carry out small works,, such as lights, sockets Etc.etc

Hi Perrys

He will have no chance of that - - zilch

I am trying to get one - its not that easy. Defo not on a student visa

I am running a course to get several companies staff on that license and its very difficult in QLD - not available to David I am 100% sure

If anyone wants info then please pm me

sorry but you can not wire lights and sockets on a resricted licence
the idea behind the restricted licence is if there are minor electrical connections associated with your trade

I meant to add that too Steve - its a non starter. Its for very specific work and not for wiring plugs. Also if you have a trade and you think it would save money or time by getting a restricted - that also does not work. It has to be a very real need - like a neon sign manufacturer or a fridge repair person etc.

So you're not allowed to change sockets and lights in your own house without a licence?

not unless your a qualified spark
to work on a mates or relatives house even for free you have to be licenced

thats why most of the gear you can buy in bunnings inc some light fittings come with plug tops on so they can be "fitted" read plugged in by your average diy er ( some roof spaces have sockets wired via light switches for just this reason )
