If you try the U.K licence trick when you have a Qld one they know as soon as they check your details that you also have a Qld one. One area they seem to excel at here is sharing info................

Considering they are as advanced on all the motoring stuff it's a shame they have only now started to share information on hard core crime like DNA etc.. In the UK could never figure out why taking a photo of you in your car speeding was fine but taking a photo of someone committing another sort of crime was invasion of privacy and their civil rights.

Hi
I am jumping on board the moaning thread, as i have received my second speeding ticket in 7 months. Oh and got one for parking the wrong way too (didnt realize it was illegal we had only been here for a couple of months). I was going 4 and 5 km over the limit respectively. Can you call it speeding really if you leave your eyes off the speedo for a second to check you are not going to crash into something? Honestly i drive with my eyes on the speedo rather than the road as i am so fearful of these tickets. I will be broke before long! They really should be on the lookout for those that really speed ie 10 and upwards over the limit. Surely they should realize you can go over a little bit by accident. And why dont they ticket the arseholes who drive up your backside cos you are trying to keep to the speed?? Its crazy. And for any do gooder that suggests speeding is speeding..yes i know but you will soon say otherwise when it keeps happening to you. My opinion now is just to piss off other road users i am going to drive 5 k under the limnit all the time so that if i accidently leave my eyes off the speedo i hopefully will still be under.
At the moment i HATE THIS BLOODY PLACE! Yhe feeling will go away in time I am sure

The parking one has caught many a BE off guard and I myself have parked the wrong way (lucky I didnt get caught) and only learnt off of here. Apparently though it is the law in the UK but not enforced. Same as here you should keep left on the freeway but not generally enforced.

I do think 4-5 kms over is a bit harsh I must admitt and yes your speed does creep over the limit sometimes. But just because we dont agree with speeding doesnt make us a do gooder and the point is 'it doesnt keep happening to us' I have been here 2 years and not got a ticket.

I didnt mean that people who kept to the limit were "do gooders" I was only protecting myself from a barrage of people ready to jump down my throat and accuse me of being a criminal just cos i accidently crept over the speed limit! I was expecting the kind of remarks that insinuated i had made my bed now i have to lie in it. Do you know what i mean? It seems that you may be one of the lucky few who has so far evaded a speed gun or failing that you must always have your eye on your speedo therefor not enough time spent watching the road!!! NOT insinuating you are a crap driver btw just trying to stress that it is more dangerous trying to watch your creeping speed than paying enough attention to the road in front. After all its easily done to creep to 4 - 5 k over! After all they say that a nano second of sleep or a sneeze can cause an accident and imo so can taking you eye off the road constantly.
No offense to you at all

Meelie, I'm with you on this one.
There's a big difference between irresponsible speeding (going over the limit in a residential area for example) and taking a bit too long to slow down when the limit drops suddenly.
They obviously sit at that point to catch the maximum amount of people and generate the most revenue.
I live on a dead end lane(30mph limit) with a garage at the bottom and irresponsible a*seholes speed down it several times a day meaning I don't like my kids playing out on the pavement. There's never a copper out there to catch them.
I always drive at 30mph or under when it's a 30 limit because it's usually a residential area.
on a 60mph dual carriageway I'd happily drive at 65 without worrying at all.
you gave fair warning in the thread title that you wanted to have a moan.
