Gillard's 3rd Strike

You sure you're not a teabagger? You have the same lack of understanding of the problems and needs, the same simplistic lack of understanding about how it fits together, the same schoolyard ideas of what a 'fix' looks like. All with a slathering of name calling 'socialism' to try and make yourself look like you are in the middle, rather than the reality of being on the far right of the political spectrum.
The clue to you really not having a clue? "More Defence" he cried.
What a buffoon.
Tell me again, as we enter a recession, how cutting spending is going to improve matters? Australia suffering from a lack of 'strong' money is it? The economy and jobs markets overheating? Or maybe you are just slavishly reacting to trigger terms, like the Dilbert cartoon?
Please, stop and think thing through. What are the threats, what are the opportunities, how do you maximise the upside into the future?
You simply cannot get away with primary school thinking when the problems are at university level.

I AM on the far-right, nothing in the middle for me when it comes to economics, welfare, justice, defence etc.
You on the other hand swallow hook, line and sinker the bullshit that is being fed to us by the left at the moment.
What a f**kwit - and very much up yourself.

She broke the first rule of Crisis Management in handling the Thomson issue - Admit the failure, take it on the chin, deal with it - the absolute worst thing you can do is try to paper over it
She has Zero credibility - her hanging on to power by knowingly haiing a corrupt member on the party is in spades as bad as anything that abbott may have suggested
and - fact is agian, she lied about carbon tax, etc etc etc she needs to go - they need to go

I deal in reality, and I can smell bullshit a mile off.
And nobody on 'the left' is feeding anything, since they pretty much don't exist as a force anymore. It the bogeyman of the right, that really doesn't work as they think it should.
See if you can come up with a coherent model of the global economy and situation that might backup your prescription of less jobs, less tax and more defence as the best way forward - I'm interested.

Sorry, nope, oops, guess again.

You deal in Bollocks, no need to smell bullshit a mile off as it's in the same room as you.
I have a right-wing view on life, you don't. Whoopee f**king doo. You decided to take this down name calling route, and as I am extremely immature, I am happy to oblige.
Wanker.
Thrush 3 is my new BE nickname for you.

When I see taxes spent on stadiums, millennium domes and failed banks I get annoyed. When I pay taxes I want to imagine building roads, schools, hospitals or pushing the frontiers of science to send men to the space or cure diseases.
In fact I would gladly pay more if they were spent exclusively in latter areas
. As a society there are things we do better by accumulating resources, not just healthcare and infrastructure but science and technology as well. I can't help but feel our lead in the latter areas is being eroded to the detriment of western nations.

I don't mind paying tax as long as it's used efficiently and effectively.

It was sickening to watch Wayne Swan and Julia Gillard on the news last night, pleased that Thompson won't be prosecuted in NSW. Article in today's Age

Much of the time there are people who would love to cut out the waste, but can't get there because of 'public accountability' reasons, rules put in place in enforce probity, or because doing so would have political consequences (close this site and get a protest).
There is scope for saving money, but it can't be done with top slicing, and it can't be done if there are idiots standing over your shoulder trying to second guess everything.

Good point GarryP. Thats the problem with a democracy, elected representatives are too afraid to tell people they are being a bit thick.
I think that is the crux of good leadership, being able to tell the truth in a way that makes people think "Yes, we need to deal with that issue" and so generates puiblic support for change. I don't believe people are generally anti-change or trial of new ideas.

Also I think you have to acknowledge politicians are a type of human. Once they were normal people who made all the mistakes normal people make regarding experimenting with drugs and falling for irresistible she-devil with eyes like a puppies and voices like chocolate milk. I’m quite indifferent to aspects of their behaviour like religion, who they sleep with and how they spend their money if they are doing a good job.

Especially when you only have a 3 year election cycle. The thick public don't even need very long memories...

I agree with the "thick" comment. However, one of the first things that my then wife to be said to me was, "Hating politicians is the number one sport in Australia - not footy." I see lots of evidence of that, mostly god humoured. But, whether the great public is savvy or not, you really can't get away with upsetting them in Oz. They will have their say. Which is good.
