just write smiley faces and on the boxes or better yet just write oprah winfrey and write no.1. next to her name.

Well, Assange has indicated that he will run for Senate, I might stop hiding from the AEC and register. the down side of that is that I would have to vote outside the "preferred voting" system which will mean numbering about a hundred boxes, in sequence without skipping any numbers or boxes.
This is why a postal vote is the way to go - you can sit down and fill in the manifold boxes at your leisure, and in whatever order you choose. You could even take it to the pub and fill it in with your mates over a couple of beers

I find the whole handing out of how to vote cards (as in what number to put where) at polling stations here quite bizarre. Last time I went it was actually quite aggressive, in yer face stuff...everyone crowding you as you got near the front door...it was only a local election! I put a 7 in every box.

Anyone else notice that Gillard is going for the sexy specs look?

I've tried to work out what game they are playing. Let's face it, Gillard is never going to succeed at 'sexy', except with a very specialised demographic. So who were the glasses aimed at? Best I can come up with is they were looking for a 'schoolmarm' - intelligent and in control - Maggie-lite. If so, they maybe looking to rerun a UK election playbook from the 1980s, with Abbott in the role of Michael Foot.

But isn't that what most people seem to hate about her - the matronly, headmistress 'I know best' attitude? Surely this is playing into that dislike isn't it?

Seemed to work OK for Thatcher - many hated her, but she still got elected with landslide majorities. And it seems you are part of the specialised demographic it would work on too.

Hmm, now THERE is some very ...... interesting ...... timing. Stinks to high heaven.
