To be honest it seems the number of people whinging about moderators not moderating unreported posts is now nearly as big as the number of people whinging about racism, yet you all refuse to take action and report anything. Small wonder I spend more time in the US forum than in here nowadays.

In fact an excellent post!

I called you a xenophobe because of your consistent negative generalisations of Australians. Good to see you consistently hide it behind a veneer of criticism of life. Then the paranoid that your perceived side is wronged.

I have been called xenophobic and racist recently simply because I have the temerity to be critical of aspects of life here.

Others can openly make insults about 'Poms' and others but do not get half the flak.

I can post what I like if it is within the rules...you can always use the ignore button as well.

There is a lot that is negative here and I will continue to draw attention to it....or do you only like the fluffy side of things?....that demonstrates a bit of insecurity on your part.

I was talking about xenophobia on the forum and the effect it has on threads. People have rightly pointed out that some comments are taken up as such (as you did to mine) when they are not intended as an attack. Yet, they then lead to an attack and then into 'I know you are but what am I' type of rubbish.

It would be very ignorant of anyone to say that this doesn't happen.

Of course you can. I never said ban you.

If I only posted fluffy stuff you might have a point but you are off the mark. Maybe you think I am part of some brigade.

I disagree. She already acknowledged the bickering on this thread so the argument of not been able to read every thread is irrelevant. She didn't take any action and that's her choice. I wasn't having a go at her or any mod, just offering a different approach to moderation.

Her unsubscribing to the thread without wanting a reply from me, leaves me thinking she need not have posted at all.

G, I think you are using misdirection here. A casual observer to BE might well think you are xenophobic to Australia. If you are posting in the rules, why can't Amazulu?

It appears you defend some of your past, and less recently, negative posts as some sort of realism and the truth. The fact of the matter some of your past contribution to the forum over many years has often been somewhat negative and vindictive. There are plenty of realistic posters who don't come across as negative as you.

You are guilty of posting threads to get a rise, as does Zulu. Who is better?

seems like for someone who hates bickering so much you sure do a lot of it.

Yeah I guess I should expect people to think that. But i'm just highlighting what I see as an issue.

Geert Wilders, to me, does something that many people don't have the balls to do. He says exactly what he believes and is prepared to stand alone in his views. His beliefs are not something I share.

What I really don't agree with is him been given a stage to air his views like this. Would I get the same attention if I wanted to say something radical? Nope, I'd be called ignorant and perhaps be charged with something.
The two previous posts to yours were discussion. The thread was actually back on track. You, with this post, and subsequent ones have taken it off track again. Doing precisely what you're complaining about. Just saying.

I didn't post to point out that the thread had been taken off topic, you've interpreted it wrong again.

Also, I brought it back on topic by the second half of that post.

Few people talk about Poms because this is mainly a British forum - so you don't have much to worry about. But Zulu is a law unto himself. He is a South African. Like you, he has a style which gives the forum colour...your style is lots of rolleyes and occasionally a broad-brush tar of 'Aussies' which you then won't debate.

On the subject of debate, or critical analysis:

I have the temerity to criticise, or rather critique Australia, but I tend to try to define the parameters of the argument, (eg look at cultural aspects of life) and try to bring value to a debate which is generally only every debated in black or white, or with a broad-brush.

I also think that discussing UK and Australia gives the potential migrant a picture of the subtle ways migrant life in general can pan out.

I would love to have proper debate on this forum, but in general people like saying things like 'Aussies can't drive' and 'they' do this or 'they' do that, (lots of tale-tales), or rolleyes, or just want to bicker.
