Geert Wilders, to me, does something that many people don't have the balls to do. He says exactly what he believes and is prepared to stand alone in his views. His beliefs are not something I share.

What I really don't agree with is him been given a stage to air his views like this. Would I get the same attention if I wanted to say something radical? Nope, I'd be called ignorant and perhaps be charged with something.

As Polly says it will just continue on another thread.

If you would like, I can close this thread but it won't stop the bun fights elsewhere.

If anyone is offended by a post, then hit the report button. If no one reports a post then we can only assume that no one is offended. :)

I'm not offended by anything that's been said, but lets be honest, the bickering is really unnecessary. I believe it's up to the moderators to do something about that. There are other ways than simply closing a thread.

Then report a post when the bickering starts otherwise we (I) may not be aware of it, as it is impossible to read every post in every thread.

Right, so now that I am subscribed to this thread...The bickering stops here!

Nige - they were bickering 36 hours ago - they've got bored with each other and left = let sleeping dogs lie and all :)

Nope, moderators need to moderating.

They'll wake up and start again.

So come on then, what words of wisdom do you have? Ban half the forum? Close the Barbie altogether and all the other Barbie-style forums and only allow serious discussions? Don't bother answering on here cos I'm not intending to revisit the thread, I have no interest in the topic and there is no obligation for a mod to read every thread. When you have the answer pm it to Sue, or report the offending post and put the answer on there,

To be honest it seems the number of people whinging about moderators not moderating unreported posts is now nearly as big as the number of people whinging about racism, yet you all refuse to take action and report anything. Small wonder I spend more time in the US forum than in here nowadays.

Nope I'll reply here. I've already made a suggestion and it doesn't involve banning everyone. I have no issue with banter, it's the stupid and obvious bickering that you yourself pointed out on this very thread. Just think that if you do see something, then better action should be taken.

My opinion, no need to get offended by it as it wasn't intended as an attack on anyone.

You can always use the ignore button if you don't like things....or are you just trying to labour a point.

Didn't you suggest that I only got citizenship for 'convenience' the other day?.........does that mean you were having a dig at me and doing exactly what you are complaining about now?

Ah now be careful. I asked you why you got citizenship and said that people often only get it for the passport. That will include me to an extent. I can see now though that you thought I was having a dig at you.

I don't think the ignore feature should replace moderators taking action.

In what context did you ask me it though?......I construed it as a slur and I think it was intended to be.

Get your own house in order before criticising others

It wasn't a slur but I see why you come under attack on here so often. You expect it.

My house is fine thanks.

so who are you referring to when you make a post asking about xenophobia?

I have been called xenophobic and racist recently simply because I have the temerity to be critical of aspects of life here.

Others can openly make insults about 'Poms' and others but do not get half the flak.
