The gold ring works!!!
We got a great cream when we were in Dubai (my eldest gets styes all the time because she rubs her eyes red when she has hay fever). It's called fucithelmic, you can't get it in Australia, but I suggest next time you're overseas, grab a couple of tubes to keep in the fridge.

Thanks for that, might see if they do it in the UK and get mum to send some over, it's the first time I've had one but it's a persistent little thing and really doesn't want to leave...

My mum used to boil up stinging nettles, strain them and then cool the juice. Stick that on some cotton wool and use that as a compress - always worked for me when I was a kid....

What normally works for me is a cold used teabag, put it on some tissues and press on the stye for about ten minutes. Hope this helps
