No, but I definitely want wallpaper from Laura Ashley
Lots of Aussies I know complain about how cold their houses/apartments are during winter, so naturally I suggest double glazing - and am usually met with the reply "Oh, it never gets that cold..." etc. Not a complaint, just an observation on behaviour.

Not entirely convinced. I actually wonder sometimes! The added insulation I have has made my office a lot hotter. I would rather heat for short periods than cool for longer periods. I actually wonder if the locals have it right sometimes.

Open the windows, let the drought flush out the hot air.

It was $22k for 7 windows including micro venetians and flyscreens to 5 of them. 3 windows are floor to ceiling ones. Only one is small. We couldn't afford to do the whole house, so have just gone for the bedrooms so the noise of the possums fighting and the party animals and dogs disturbs us less, and we can have more comfortable nights. Three of the windows had been eaten by cockatoos. We have gone for white UPVC, so hopefully the birds won't attack it. The only trouble is that the lounge hall and sunroom are still red cedar, so it will look odd until it is painted. The kitchen and bathroom are already white, but single glazed, so they will have to wait.

I dont think I know anyone in Australia with double glazing, the horrendous cost is possibly something to do with that though.

Given that 7 windows in the UK, fitted, is £1.5k-3k (A$3k-$5.5k) it's got to be cheaper to ship out units from the UK. And since triple glazing is becoming a thing there ...

Have you ever noticed that when the term "Australian" is added to something, the price doubles?
"It's Australian made" (shoddy with poor customer service)
"It's made for Australian conditions" (in the same chinese factory, on the same production lines that make all the other units...)
"Australian owned" (will go bankrupt in three weeks)
Some of the timelines friends have had on delivery of furniture have been incredible. Things put together from predefined parts have timelines measured in months.
Give me chinese made - it'll be shipped in 5 days and last about as long at the local stuff. Hell, half the time it IS the local stuff, just with a different name slapped on it.
