Separated only by a length or two of alimentary canal?

Chutney.

No! Surely it is Branston that looks like diarrhoea?

That or you have something seriously wrong with your GI tract!:D

So what is Branston Pickles supposed to taste of? It tasted to me like a herd of multi-nationals had rolled over it.

Not sure if on Monday morning I'll enlighten the importer by asking for my money back or, more civically minded, remain silent.

It's awesome and it matters not a jot if you like it. Almost every Brit whinges how crap the Cadbury's is here, but I heard lots of Aussies saying the same in the UK! It's called personal taste....

I'm damned if I know, haven't tasted Branston for years!
As for the yellow shite, that was a deeply buried childhood scar until this evening!

Marmalade & cheddar rule OK!

It matters to me. The way it was described here lead me to believe it might taste nice. At $4 / 300 g it would want to. It didn't. Which makes me wonder if it is normally ordinary or just the jar I bought was from a tasteless batch.

I know turnip, I know a swede when I taste one. Not a skerrick of either taste in the bottle I purchased. Perhaps it was a bad batch and, instead of sending it to landfill, they sent it to Australia - plenty of big holes there.

Or your palette is stuffed? Not everybody likes the same stuff and it needn't be good to be popular. Aussie beer sells very well;)

My palate is fine. As proof, I don't like or drink beer. Belgique Trappiste excepted.

With the amount of sugar in Branston Pickles it might be expected I'd like 'em but I don't.

I do remember the day after a Rugby sevens tournament, waking up on a park bench after a night of port and brandies, with a pocket full of broken port glasses in my pockets and a jakey trying to steal my wallet.....

I can believe it. The wine here is superb. No reason to think the fortified wouldn't be. I have tried some fortified Shiraz and Tawny port and it cuts the mustard. Anybody who disparages Aussie wines need look no further than the French financial involvement in the industry here and the adoption of many techniques used in wine making in Australia. They are scared.
