Excellent article written in the Sydney Morning Herald that backs up pretty much what I have been hearing at work and on the street - http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cricket/...129-2ygts.html

In fact it would only be those few people in the courier mail press office and the small number of Aussie supporters that post here that love that kind of thing.

Great to see something written that is closer to the real Aussie view point.

And what is most irksome - the whole anti-Broad ''campaign'' rested on a phony premise. An English person visiting Brisbane for the Test and reading The Courier-Mail would assume that the newspaper represented an Australian attitude. What it represented was the idea of a few people in a newspaper office using the biggest show in town to get its ''brand'' before the public.

I often feel that Queensland is not part of Australia. Funny how you pulled that from a Sydney rag.

Anyhow

Its been a long time since Oz has had a string of sporting successes.

1st cricket test win in a long time.
Beat the 6 nation champs
The rugby league world cup (who cares - its a low sport)

Michael Vaughan:

Interesting to see a batsman's take on the threat posed by Johnson.

Bresnan is circling for a spot.

From an opposition point of view, I'd prefer someone like Bairstow. I rate Bresnan. He could be dangerous.

I think you'll find we continue the banter win loose or draw. Just take a browse back to the last Ashes.

Surely there must be some opinion on team selection, drop in pitches, big nights out in Adelaide with a few days out.

I tend to ignore anything that isn't cricket actually being played.

Do I have to wait until Thursday?

Check out the new Adelaide Oval. It's not finished. Farce

who really gives a toss, all that matters is what players turn up and what they do with the conditions they're given. Blokes are allowed to be blokes in cricket, if they ever change that it'll be no better than GayFL

As long as there is a pitch and some outfield she'll be right for 1 all.

Arrow Re: The Cricket Thread (...and other sport)

Lots of rain here in Adelaide today. More showers forecast for Thursday. Clouds for Friday. Bright sun for Saturday (32°C) & Sunday (36°C).

Whoever bats first will have a chance to shape the entire game. If it's England, they will either win or draw. I have a nasty feeling our batsmen will not keep up.
