2 - 1 in the clown cricket.

The good news for England is that Mitchell Johnson played well and with Starc not looking too fit, big Mitch might get a call up for the tests.

On a cold night:

Johnson averaged 91.2 mph for his 60 balls bowled, conceded 21 runs and got 2 wickets. Be afraid England! He's much canned on this thread but he joined an elite group of those who have taken 200 wickets in Tests and ODI's.

Pieterson 1st ball (good to see the super ego deflated), Root scratchy 20, Trott supposedly injured. Top order worries methinks.

Watson and Clarke scored nearly as many as the 11 Poms.

To me Buttler looks better than Prior and I still say Morgan is worth a go - it's not as though the above mentioned plus Cook are keeping him out on merit.

Oh and England's captain and best bowler are Irish.

Yes, 3-0, 3-0 but a good psychological end to the trip to the wet, cold and green land.

One dayers and 20=20 are shite and you know it, you're not taking any pride in winning surely. It's like losing the world cup final and then taking consolation out of beating iran in a friendly.

Plus you live in sweatyland, how can you call anywhere cold and wet??

I take it you are referring to me

I genuinely have no time for ODI cricket - I used to like it but no longer do. If SA do well then that's fine and I will be happy, but I don't give a toss either way

I have a mild interest in T20 but recognise it for what it is - a lottery game to attract people who don't like cricket to the sport. If you can see it for what it is then it can be fun

Test cricket is what I like - I'm even starting to prefer it to rugby as my sport of choice

I'm the same. Never liked any of the short forms of cricket. To me it is like a totally different sport. It's like saying rugby league and union are the same sport.

I couldn't have given a flying french connection UK that England won the champions trophy this year.

ICC World Cup has been played for 10 times since 1975 and don't tell me any nation isn't bothered about winning it even if some spectators claim it doesn't interest them.

Australia 4, W Indies 2, India 2, Sri Lanka and Pakistan 1 each.

2 notable omissions from what I can see.

Champions Trophy is Division 2 of ODI world competitions, only started in 2000 and is held more often which further reduces its status. Again a notable omission with that one after 8 events.

Tennis has Slams, Masters and ATP/WTA Tour events (best of 5 sets, best of 3 sets); cricket has tests, ODI's and T20's. Football has for club teams - league championships, domestic cups, further afield cups and there are different international team competitions. To just be interested in one competition against one nation in any sport seems a bit narrow to me.

OD cricket is popular in SA - more so than tests unfortunately. They deperately want to win the WC

It's just not important to me. I don't give a shit

I was in east london on the night Australia beat Pakistan back in 99. There was green and white everywhere. Hanging out of cars, blocking roads, decorated houses, etc. One thing is for sure. The Pakistani's are passionate about the World Cup

If England won a world cup they'd be shouting from the rooftops, knighthoods and the like.

Fair enough mate. I don't understand why SA don't do better at ODI's, they have the best bowler in the world and some prolific high scoring batsmen. I always remember that time Australia set an incredibly high score and SA made it (was it around 400?). Smith, Amla, Kallis, De Villiers etc a daunting line-up.
