The Ashes Brisbane 2017: British expats ready to shout down Barmy Army
Gonna be a noisy few days! Brisbane Barmies are launching a website, as well as the Facebook group by the same name, and hope to run charity events etc, we are not just a group created for the Ashes. There was a golf tournament a few weeks back, for example. Pig & Whistle at Riverside in supporting the Group for meet-ups etc. Open to British expats in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast. Not sure what the membership rules will be going forward, but certainly the only way Cricket Australia would sell tickets to the Group en mass, in the section next to the Army, was by us all being expats living locally. Anyone interested in joining, Facebook is probably the way to go for now. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1820045628213739/ http://brisbanebarmies.com/ |

Good day of test cricket, proper ebb and flow. Even in the end but the pommy debutees looking promising for the series. Aussie “Pace Attack†look predictable and subject to injury if needed for long spells. Lyon the best of the bowlers. Wicket possibly slow (but likely to get quicker), reassess when both teams have batted. |

Just the Gabba microclimate keeping it interesting. Very wierd to lose over an hour’s play while everywhere else is dry.

That was a 250-300 run day out there on that wicket. Bad light stops play ..... come on Brisbane ..... sort your shit out. :) |

A very dull day of cricket to be honest.

We had just gone to the Aussie National when the rain started, were forced to have a few more beers!
