I said ask most cricket followers; Warne is a first class plonker (but was a great bowler) and his rabbiting on about how much drinking they'd do after the final was embarrassing.

Warne has done some plonker things. But on his cricket knowledge alone which when commentating is out of this world, I'll take his opinions over your mates. And I've done the MCG amongst a number of other international cricket venues. You should take my advice over believing what you want to believe.

Move on to something else will you ffs. I'll make a note to remember in future to submit all my feelings, opinions and experiences to you for approval and comment.

I saw Richie Benaud play in front of more than 90,000 vs West Indies (that's on one day, and at the MCG) during probably the best test series ever (although I have a feeling you will try to correct my opinion on that).

BBC Sport - Ankit Keshri: Indian cricketer dies in fielding collision

Indian cricketer Ankit Keshri has died after colliding with a team-mate as they both attempted to take a catch in a club match in Kolkata on Friday.
The 20-year-old, a former captain of Bengal's under-19 state team, was only on the field as a substitute fielder.
He reportedly regained consciousness after the collision, but later suffered a cardiac arrest in hospital and died on Monday.

After smashing his way into Test contention, Kevin Pietersen receives a swift kick to the nadgers and a cool 'Sod off' from the ECB:

Kevin Pietersen will not play for England this summer after director of cricket Andrew Strauss said there was a "massive trust issue" between the two.

Strauss said Pietersen, who recorded a career-best 355 not out for Surrey on Tuesday, has not been banned from future England action.

But, in a 40-minute meeting with Strauss on Monday, he was told he would not be considered until after the summer's home Ashes series against Australia.

Strauss is totally the wrong guy for this job - an average captain and too close to players that are not performing well and will not be dropped

KP is a grade A knob jockey but a great batsmen and one of the best that England can pick at the present time. He deserves to be selected

England have effectively conceded defeat in this year's Ashes - a team that is happy to lose is a bunch of losers

England have overall been a mediocre test team for decades but the players who have done well for them in spite of this must be hanging their heads in shame

There's a definite element of farce to all this - one Saffer denying a place to another Saffer in the England cricket team.

It comes down to whether you play someone no matter what they do off the field or in the dressing room or write in books to make a few quid or whether you have some standards about what is and isn't acceptable when a member of a team.

He's burned his bridges; you can't say and write the things he did about Strauss and the ECB and then wonder why they won't pick you.

As Lord MacLaurin said:

"He had a run-in with Andrew Strauss, one of our best captains ever. He wrote that inflammatory book about the ECB - I just don't think we need people like that.

"You harvest what you plant and he sadly planted a lot of very wrong things in his life."

And on the subject of cricket grounds I had been led to believe that the MCG isn't a patch on grounds such as Lords. Apparently the MCC has a 15 year re-development program to make it 'the finest cricket ground in the world'. Why spend £200 mill (originally a £400 mill plan to include some housing) when it is allegedly already that?

MCC unveils £200m plan to make Lord's 'the finest cricket ground in the world' - Telegraph

Derek Brewer, the club’s chief executive, revealed a detailed project which is the culmination of years of internal debate and conflict over a much-needed improvement of Lord’s.

concentrates on revamping facilities for members, supporters and staff.

“Lord’s is a fantastic, iconic ground, the envy of the cricketing world, but there is significant work to do if MCC is to maintain its long-term stated ambition to continue to own the finest cricket ground in the world,” said Colin Maber, the chairman of a ground working party which has spent the past 12 months researching the ‘Masterplan’.

“The ground is looking tired in places and somewhat under-loved and it is vital MCC provides an outstanding experience for visitors to Lord’s.”

The Oval is much better than Lords. In fact Lords is a bit crap from watching cricket. Bit like the MCG.

That will be the 26,000 capacity ground overlooked by a particularly fetching gasometer? That's over 60,000 who couldn't have watched Australia vs England World Cup who did at the MCG in modern comfort.

Depends if you are a spectator or an administrator. I suspect you are a spectator otherwise you'd call yourself OzCricket

I love watching at The Oval, its a really good atmosphere there, and I've had some great chats with fellow spectators. Last guy I met there was a West Indian who had kived in London since the 50s, and was approaching his 90th birthday. Fascinating character!
Not been to Lords yet, long been an aim of mine and I've got a ticket for this year's Ashes Test there. A good friend of mine back home went to an Ashes Test a few years back with his father-dad was a cricket fanatic, playing and watching, and had been a member of Lords for years. My mate knew absolutely nothing (to the extent of expecting a Test to be completed in one day) but he enjoyed Lords for the historical element and the fact it really is a part of English history. looking forward to seeing what its really like in July
