Re: The Cricket Thread
I'm no longer really into ODI cricket as it's kind of pointless so pretty ambivalent to this (although I reserve the right to change my mind if we continue to do well!)
An impressive performance given that we scored over 260 runs in the last 20 overs and were on track at one point to triple our 30 over score, but some of that bowling was ordinary beyond belief - even Anderson and Broad could have done better! Sure ABD was on fire but even I could have belted most of those shin height, full tosses he was getting
It is obvious that SA had a strategy to start slowly, see off the new ball/best bowling and then launch but if the WI realised this, they did nothing to counter it. They played to SA's tune
All good, but when we played a decent team (India) we fell apart
We'll see
Meanwhile NZ giving Australia a hard game

Impressive performance none the less but I take your point about the relative strengths of opposition.
It's an interesting World Cup, I can't pick a winner right now to be honest.
OK, I will ... NZ ... Just because they are due.

Yes, topsy turvy WC - Australia/NZ was thrilling but shouldn't have been after such a dire Aussie performance which surely can't happen again soon. In my view the potential winners now are, in no particular intended order, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand or India; I can't see any other team winning.
Letter in Melbourne paper today - 'if Australia lose to Afghanistan tomorrow there will be a TELLY BAN in our house'.

Sat next to an Irishman who is sobbing into his Guinness, specially as he has just forked out for a flight to Adelaide to watch his team play Pakistan! i reckon England must have been giving the Irish lessons over the last couple of days
