Fair, I think Smith being demoted from Captain is probably punishment enough. Given they are all doing it, etc.

How Shrek survives is beyond me, time to ring the changes right now IMO

You'll be even more sick when Warner blows the lid on England and South African systemic ball tampering. The street urchin won't care who he brings down. That's why South Africa have been so quiet. England should learn from that. Lots of highly paid sponsorship endorsements are at stake here.

Probably because he had no knowledge of the tampering. Think of the legal ramifications if CA aligned his firing with the current topic. I can't see him remaining once the hysteria dies down. They are probably shit scared of the legal stuff coming from Steve Smith lawyers. Warner will also be worried what's coming from Smith's lawyers too.

Steve Smith’s ball tampering reaction to David Warner plot revealed

And there it is as said. Smith just couldn't control his VC.

Smith will be back within the year, maybe not as Captain, but public pressure will force an early come back, if the lawyers don't. Warner mercenary on the 20/20 circuit.

So when the Coach says on public record he doesn't have a problem with cheating, why has he not been banned/fired/suspended/wrist slapped?

I think Smith should get a ban, but 3 months or so, not 12. As captain he has to take some responsibilty. Bancroft a couple of games

Despite getting a year, I doubt that Warner will play for Australia again

Boofhead will not get a contract renewal. He may even resign if the pressure continues

Sutherland should be a politician - he doesn't take a position on anything. Time to go

Maybe a ban for Smith, but from the info I am receiving, he may not even known Bancroft had sand paper in the pocket when he left the dressing rooms.

I think losing the captaincy would be right, and needed, if the above is true.

What? About him saying publicly he doesn't have an issue? Some tv interview, before this Test. I think he was also recorded talking into a walkie talkie just before the cheating happened??? Can't remember exactly what he said. - Edit, that comment may have been explained away.

If it was the height of an Aussie summer then a 3 month ban may have sufficed but not now. Needs something a bit more substantial, but not 12 months given he seems unaware of what was going on.

There has clearly been a bit of a power struggle between him and Warner and he lost control.

In other news I have purchased a big roll of yellow sandpaper and will take the field with it when the winter season starts here in a month or so.

Hilarity will ensue. The skipper may not see the joke.

Oh I very much doubt that the words of a bitter vengeful cheat will be listened to seriously. And what's all this street urchin bollocks?

I don't believe for a second he had no knowledge, but you're right the implications would be massive, with the obvious follow on question being 'how much higher'?

Much as I think Warner is a bell end, he's proper been thrown under the bus on this one, he makes a perfect pantomime villain. Smith being made out to be weak willed gullible golden boy instead of a cheat. His ban will almost certainly be shortened, this stinks way more than the ball tampering ever could.

CA and the team will come out of this with Steve Smith reinstated as captain, minus Bancroft who's colateral damage, and Warner who they wanted to get rid of anyway because he's a prick, but couldn't cos the public loved him. Have to admire their opportunism.

That British press are a funny lot. Never let a good made up story get in the way of the truth.
