Just watching live play now, it can only go one way i.e.for S.A. to win this one. :fingerscrossed:
They still have to win the next test or draw, for a first S.A. series victory against Australia since re-admission,amazingly, even though S.A. have beaten Australia in Oz a few times. Interesting to watch... Hopefully that's now a thing of the past! |

Interestingly, ball tampering is not considered a serious offence by the ICC - hence the one match bans (not even that sometimes, just 100% match fee). The public and press, rightly or wrongly, see it differently. In this case, Australia is turning against their cricket team. When the Prime Minister is calling for the captain's head, you know it's in a different league and all bets are off. There's the real issue right there champ Australia 'quality'? Yes, they have some 'quality' batsmen and bowlers, but that's it. Everything else about them is the antithesis of quality. Attitudes, sledging, actions, the frowns, primadonnaness - all distinctly un-quality. Australia are a combination of modern Manchester United and spoilt bastard from Viz - the most hated team in world cricket You starting to see the difference yet? |

All very true and ball tampery, but this isn't about Anderson, Broad, Atherton or anyone else you'd like to deflect attention to. Your team touted itself as beyond reproach in the lying and cheating stakes and they've been found out as liars and cheats. Makes you wonder what else they've done and got away with.

On a lighter note Dymocks Brisbane have placed Steve Smith's Autobiography in the true crime section, it did make me chortle just a little.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Great to se a team that enjoy purely playing the game of cricket win over West Indies. I speak of Afghanistan of course.
Anyone else think the disgraceful Aussie cricket team is but a metaphor for a lot of things going down in this country in recent times? |

That's correct. We don't want cheats as our captain. You clearly do.
You starting to see the difference yet? This is pure whataboutism on your part (Google it) My opinion on this saga FWIW: Yes, Smith and co need to be punished, but there is also a lot of hypocrisy and a holier than thou attitude coming from some of the commentariat. Shane Warne getting stuck in - give me a break. Michael Atherton having a go? Seriously? Even the Saffas are showing some prime hypocrisy over cheating seeing what Hansie Cronje did. Full credit to Smith for fessing up on live TV, knowing full well (or should have known) that he was smashing his reputation, career and financial future. Australia could easily have let Bancroft take the pineapple, get a one match ban and everyone moves on after a short shitstorm. But he didn't. That counts for something in my book What I'm enjoying is watching Australian cricket wriggle and squirm under the full glare of the media and public opinion. The team that struts around the world, aloof, arrogant, frowning, judgemental getting ass reamed. The team that likes to lecture everyone else getting it big style. The team that bullies, dishes it out, sledges relentlessly (personal sledging - my wife your kids) but can't take it back - getting it back without a murmur. The team that lives in a bubble of privilege, getting that bubble burst. The team that is hated the world over really feeling that hate All this of their own making Loving it |
