It was a great match. Sucks to have lost, as an Indian. But we bowled quite well. Our first innings fielding was rather poor. Just when we manage to build a genuine seam/pace attack, we are let down by poor close in fielding. And we were a tad aggressive with the bat, when a more circumspect performance would have gotten us closer . All our wickets went to our pace quartet .
This test at least shows we have the bowling to exploit the conditions; we need to up our batting and fielding. It's do or die for India now. |

Indeed. Let's hope the one at Centurion is just as good.

Re: The Cricket Thread
Well it looks like Ben Stokes has escaped. Meaning, somehow he got out of the assault charge but charged with oh so confusing charge of affray.
Affray, one step down from rioting, which leaves the legal team with so many grey areas to play with. Unlikely to get convicted. See John Terry and his broken bottle incident. How they not throw an assault charge at that is beyond me. Oh self defence probably. Anyhow onwards and upwards for English cricket. |

Ah basher colour cricket. My son wants to go to one of those games.
I still go to the Tests but T20 has it’s appeal in the cricket calendar. This season too long though, I’d say. Big danger of burn out if they string it out much longer. |

One wag commented that England were doing so well in the ODIs because they were used to batting 50 overs during The Ashes. |
Re: The Cricket Thread
What's the chatter on the Joburg pitch in the Saffer papers ? The Indian press is of the opinion that it's a dangerous minefield, but our teams clawed on courageously in the third innings to set quite a surprising score, considering I thought they'd all be in the hut for 150.
This series has been a mix of impressive and deplorable performances as an India fan. The bowlings clearly kept up with the - on paper - vastly superior Saffer attack. Our batting though, has been poor. And I wish they'd *stop* smearing their palms with butter before going out to field. And Kohli loses the selection plot sometimes. Despite the scoreline, both the first tests could have gone our way with as little as a single session being different. |
Re: The Cricket Thread
An immensely satisfying win for India. It was great to beat SA on a scary pitch like that. We also took all 60 wickets over the series, another first for us. In fact, this is the first time ever that a 3-match series saw all 120 wickets falling.
Interestingly, Wanderers is the only overseas venue where India have an unbeaten winning record - two wins, three draws. I'm guessing CSA will never pick it for a future tour, but they have bigger problems on hand, including a potential 12 month hosting ban if the pitch earns maximum demerit points. |

Warner is a bogan bully and a typical Australian cricketer who likes to dish it out but can't take it back. They are mostly all like this - metrosexual, spoilt bastard (ala viz) wankers with Man Utd frowns - and always have been. Always will
Stick it up 'em boys. Set KG on to them - he won't back down to these pricks |
