Thanks, I could knock up a French meal if I wanted to - but getting one delivered oop 'ere isn't going to happen.

Oh come on I know someone who lives in your neck of the woods. I'm sure she's dined in the most pretentious restaurants up there. Give her a buzz, she can ask in her deli.

I doubt it matters too much. Keep the elderly safe, life by brute force and lack of discipline will crack on.

Well yes I'm sure you could (hey, even I could and have during these strange times) but would that be a treat for you? Get a curry, make up for not getting to the UK.

when im on r&r in perth I just cook up some chicken every couple of days and graze on fajitas, it fits in well with drinking at breakfast and sitting on the balcony in singlet and underpants. Its a humble existence, but it suits me

I'm now imagining you as a cosmopolitan Rab C. Nesbitt.

It's not a happy thought

EldestDreamy is cooking on Saturday (one of the boys cooks every Saturday night, I am blessed) and we're apparently having takeout tonight. I'm sure I'll cope. Especially as there will be wine involved this evening.

Do you think a full Victoria lockdown in March April would have prevented the current outbreak?

NZ just seemed to take the whole thing more seriously from the get-go, and through a combination of good policy, good management and good luck, have avoided major, expensive errors like the Ruby Princess (NSW) and quarantine-hotel-management-on-the-cheap (VIC).

They've benefited as well from not having a federated system of government, i.e.
  • no national vs state politics to muddle the message of the public health response to the general public;
  • no dropping of balls between national and state authorities as happened in the Ruby Princess case;
  • no pointless sniping between states and/or the feds about state border issues.
