Yep. For sure. Then there's Africa and the sub continent. The numbers out of the US might just be the tip of the iceberg.

As long as moron groups continue to get together for their sunbaking on the beaches or picnics in the parks, this current level or harsher will continue. Whether that's weeks or months we have no idea. The idea that for economic reasons it can't continue is unrealistic.

Personally I'd prefer an economic meltdown with relatively few deaths to an economic meltdown with thousands of deaths. The economic bit is a given in either scenario imo.

There is quite a medical consensus in Australia that deaths from suicide, domestic violence, and stress related illness related to the economic impacts will l likely exceed the virus itself.

Anyone notice the growing similarities between Jacinta Adhern and Daniel Andrews.

Scouse and I booked in for ours weeks ago because we thought we were going on an overseas holiday (HA!), I rang the surgery and they're still going ahead with vaccinations. Mum got hers on Friday thank goodness, she'll be at maximum protection level when she has her surgery. If she has her surgery, she still needs to pass the 'high risk' anaesthetic consultation.

Premier Mark McGowan announces that the Shire of Esperance, on Western Australia's South Coast, will go on lockdown shortly to prevent hordes of people from Kalgoorlie and the farming districts from descending there for Easter holidays. McGowan says this will likely take the form of roadblocks on the Coolgardie-Esperance Highway and the South Coast Highway.

Remote Esperance - 5 hours from Albany, 8 hours from Perth - arguably has the best beaches in Australia.

I often put it, Perth people go to Busselton and Margaret River, country people go to Esperance.

There have been confirmed cases in the Goldfields-Esperance Region, but not the Shire of Esperance itself.

Our delightful Premier has said we can't call it Easter Holidays. It has to be referred to as 'break'. The world 'holiday' encourages people to try and travel whereas 'break' apparently doesn't. Righty ho.

Moneypenny, you are located in Gold Coast right? Are you finding everyone is still on the beach? I cant believe it. I live in Coomera so I haven't been going out at all and especially not travelling to the beach, but everyone is telling me they are packed! Something needs to be done.

the thing is that they're sending out mixed messages. Stay at home or we'll give you a fine on one hand, and on the other you're allowed to take your brats to school / preschool, and you're allowed to go and get your hair cut. It's no wonder people are not taking it as seriously as they should.

Thing is, people on a beach, well spread out, are less of a risk than people going to Bunnings, or Coles. The aisles force you to pass much closer to others than you would get on a beach. And kids in a school are a great vector between parents who are 'essential workers' but with different organisations.

These are policies put together by people with no firm idea of how to stop transmission.
