The Commonwealth Games ...

I agree that a nation with such huge issues of poverty and class discrimination had no business spending billions on this waste.
But this attendance information is very telling about what a waste of money that could have been better spent.
On Tuesday's second day of competition, no more than 100 people were in the 19,000-seat MDC Stadium, which some have called the best field hockey stadium in the world.
Fewer than 20 people were in the 5,000-seat tennis stadium for the first match of the tournament, although hundreds arrived later to watch local hopefuls Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes play in doubles.
Only 58 spectators watched the opening match of netball - a sport similar to basketball but played without a backboard. Swimming attracted a comparatively big crowd, with up to 1,200 people creating some atmosphere.
An official at the 4,000-seat velodrome, where only about 500 people watched cyclists circle the track, blamed a lack of enthusiasm for some events.
A week left, and doubtful it will improve much. Foreigners have avoided the place like the plague.

No building collapses? No terrorism?
I'm going to stop watching ... all I have seen so far is some Aussies getting disciplined for giving the judges various finger formations as they threw their toys out of the pram/bicycle.
How long does this thing go on for?

It's been worth all those billions of dollars so the world is aware of Sheila Dikshit, I think.

Laughing at her unfortunate name, however is not racist. I would have laughed if she happened to be British with that name. Would I have called you a racist if you cracked the same 'gag'...damn right. Simple fact!

It was a racist slur, simple as, you can see it on youtube, the guy is a racist cock for saying "it was appropriate because she is Indian".

Classic double standards. From you its 'light hearted banter'.. anybody else is obviously a racist.

We love the Commnwealth games, in fact all of the 'Olympic style' games that are on. Used to watch it avidly in the Uk and still watch it here, mind you it is more enjoyable now as Australia win so many time, that is when I am proud to be an aussie

The simple fact is, taking the piss out of someone's name without referring to ethnicity or religion is not racist. If you cannot seem to understand this massive simple difference then that goes some way to justifying your sometimes bigoted posts on here.
