apparently you are at greater risk of an internal type cancer if you are low in vit d, but then you get too much sun to get your vit d and end up a skin cancer...
can't win...

i guess the lesson is to keep our kids safe from an early age since we know the dangers these days and try and keep our selves from getting further damage now.
BTW is anyone else using the allmedic range of products from their skin cancer doctor?
amazing stuff....look at the difference in pics on page 3 of the pdf of how much it clears up actinic keratosis in a month :http://www.allmedic.org.au/images/st..._August_09.pdf
my skin does not yet look like that at my age, but it certainly feels much better, and is a good way to deal with some of my sundamaged skin...
My doctor bulk bills, I am a month late in my check up but he has this scanner thing and photographs moles to monitor them, I have utmost faith in this guy.

My vitamin D level should be about 95 (cant remember) and it is often 60, so I am always low in it and take tablets.

We have a giant bottle of suncream in the bathroom plus a few tubes lying around. I have to wear a hat if I go out in the middle of the day as I get heat stroke so easily, I got it bad in England, not sunburnt but my head overheats so easily, I nearly went to hospital in the UK.

If I am out in the sun for even half an hour without a hat, I get dizzy/confused and it is quite scary, so I have to wear a hat, I have gone a bit pink occasionally but I bought a rash vest and wear board shorts for swimming so that solved that problem.

I try not to worry about skin cancer, but you can bet your life I will be nervous before I go in for my scan and its only when I get the all clear do I heave a sigh of relief - until next time.

I climbed Kings Canyon and used a black umbrella to shade myself. No one gave a rats....which brings us to the, how Australia has changed you, thread.

You might get a few odd looks in the UK running round the hills with a brolly

Mind you, we only saw about 3 other people

I've been away too long, (black)parasols are normal 'ere.

I'm looking forward to that kind of isolation tbh like the stunning beauty we found north of Perth up the coast.

I have forgotten my hat, midday and had a silver rain umbrella in the car, thought people would stare like hell with me walking round in blazing sunshine with umbrella up. Nobody batted an eyelid, couldnt give a stuff. That was in brisbane.

This info will probably worry Badge though

Why? I nicked a brolly from the Royal Botanic Gardens last week after a wedding.

It's been done before - using a parasol, I mean.

Well yesterday my arms got burnt while I was driving in my car. Today we went out in Mr PPs car who has tinted windows and I noticed the difference. So I am off to Tint a Car tomorrow, they have $100 off any car window tint this month.

I honestly hadn't considered that but we were up there for a few hours and didn't get burnt.
