So we've got one poster who will agree with whatever the Libs say and do...and one that will agree with everything the unions say and do. Hardly sounds like romping it home!

Remember, lefties have alternatives in the Greens and collection of independents. There are very little alternatives for the central and right wingers. Its the majority that rule.

Sounds more like Australians are not convinced of either major party and rightly so. Some 28% not committed to either of the mains. Unions are a very necessary and increasing so in this day and age. Witnessed their worth only last week.
Unlikely that the neolibs will romp anywhere. Although the Brits voted for austerity so anything is possible if enough gullible people swallow the angst.

"union membership growth australia".
See what you can find.

Nobody denies union membership is declining but your assumption is that this should mean that Labor will never get in power as a result. Labor's appeal obviously extends to non union members which you seem to be in denial about. Some people want a fairer society which is where Labor draws a lot of its support from.
Of the following 100 positive policies, I found only 1 relating to unions and that was the policy to improve union governance which you can't possibly disagree with surely?

See what you can find when you look at who has governed Australia in the last 30 years (regular swings between Coalition and Labor) and the current polls (close).

Privatised but delivering free healthcare as a government service, rather than the government doing it themselves
The state is hopeless at delivering services economically and to the best standard - civil service mentality, unions, socialism, red-tape, hatred of the west etc get in the way
They already use the private sector to deliver public services
We'd save a fortune that could be ploughed back into infrastructure and reducing our onerous tax burden
A winning setup

Labour are toast in Victoria.
Fresh from wasting $1bn+ by cancelling the east west link, bullying premier Dan Andrews has picked an entirely unnecessary fight with the CFA, whose godliness in Victoria is probably above that even of nurses.
Any country seats the ALP had their eye on with go to the LNP, and inner city seats will go to the Greens.

The ALP destroys things. Queenland and Victoria should learn.

A welder, so still fake with the woodworking setup (and terrible with the script).
As we've covered before, it's the LNP that destroy rather than create. QLD and VIC are certainly doing better than NSW....

You may well consider reasons for declining membership instead of kicking yet another home goal.
I'll help you out. The massive off shoring of jobs in the industrial area being one reason. The ever casualization of the Australian workplace being another. Not forgetting part time jobs and areas where union ability to recruit is limited due to access. Not forgetting the 457's and areas of work where casual foreigners frequent.
Just last week a few of the sixteen professional staff sacked due to ' restructuring' in an agency I am acquainted with were more than pleased to learn they had to be payed long service leave pro rata. Thanks to the union intervention.
Without such assistance working people will be treated accordingly. Will disdain and bullying.
Even professional organizations have their ' unions'. Just look at the AMP for example. Of course business has the Chamber of Commerce to safeguard their legal rights.

It is just a matter whom of the two are less worse under the circumstances. ALP comes out the winner with Turnbull policy under wraps for the large part in order to win more support. Heaven help Australia if that lot gained control of the Senate. It would certainly be time to quit the country.
