as a vicar's daughter in English country villages we had to associate with the children of the "gentry" during their school holidays....very ra-ra and jolly hockey sticks and private tennis courts. I could never get over them calling their parents "mater" and "Sir". I know its just what they were brought up with, but to us comprehensive school louts it was another world. I remember asking someone if they wanted to play tennis while their parents talked to my dad - rude shock when she found our tennis court was the lane outside the garden and you had to dodge the tractors and the cowpats

I reckon that one word is where the UK stuffed up race relations. Fancy making an abbreviation a insult... even if there were issues around it at the time. Re bashing etc Talk about digging a hole and burying yourself.
Now it's entrenched in law... Pakistanis are different and there is a law to prove it...... IN Britain. !
As for this thread and the old content.... it's all be done before.
Save for one part.... The Aussies I have a go at dont seem to mind. It's all in the delivery.
