"I thought half-wits like you were lying low but every now and again theres one idiot who raises his head above the parapet to see if all is ok for this type of bigoted, uneducated, racism."

It always amazes me how the Guardian readers raise their heads after bomb attacks in London and start making excuses for the islamic community.

I see that they have caught some people related to the Glasgow airport attack. As a matter of interest are they muslim?

Im feeling bad, coz i didnt mean to start this..really.
There is good and bad in every society....
There are extremists in every culture and society......
Im pretty sure that most of us are migrants or have had migrants in our family.
This is a HUGE subject and an emotive one, i dont think we should be falling out about it tho?
Everyone is entitled to their opinion....
There must be many different ppl on here all with diverse cultural backgrounds and experiances...lets celebrate that.
Lets keep it clean and play nicely

Don't worry about it - threads that cover anything other than a thrilling word game usually head this way. Not sure whether that's a comment on the character of the kind of people that emigrate ... or just on the British in general.

The UK is turning in to a nation of bitter and twisted people, just look at the stuff going on in London just now. I bet you anything you like it's down to immigrants or british born muslims.
I wonder why these 'fanatics' don't just bugger off back to where they come from - if they don't like how western countries run then why do they live there (maybe because they are dole bludging lazy koran carrying bastards?)
Please remember that people of all nationalities and religions use this forum and I would appreciate it if you took the time to read rule 2.

Thank you.

OK, I have never met a british person who likes what is going on in the UK when it comes to migrants flooding in from eastern europe. It seems that a lot of people on here have a different view. Maybe it's political correctness I really don't know but I like to be honest and truthfull to myself rather than pander to the PC brigade.
I say it as it is and how I see it is the UK is being ruined by the slack immigration policies. If you disagree then that's up to you. You're wrong though.

So people are wrong just because they disagree with you.

Kevin, I come from just down the road from you in Woodbridge... I know of a couple of farmers in the area who will candidly tell you that they do not know how they could have continued with their businesses if it wasn't for the East Europeans that have come over and work on their land. It wasn't a case of paying more money, it was a case of no one from the UK would do the job. In my own field back in Blighty we could not get truck drivers for our lorries... Even at over £600 pw... Plenty of my contemporaries were in the same situation and employed many Polish drivers and were very very happy with the result; and they were paid the same as the British drivers. I used to feel exactly the same as you and certainly consider myself to be well to the right of the political spectrum. I don't doubt your experiences with Thetford (an absolute dump if you ask me) but not everything is like that. Many people lump the economic migrants in with the asylum seekers which is a whole new ball game. Don't forget the East Europeans have to work, and contribute to our system, for at least a year (might be 2 I can't remember) before they have any rights as far as financial assistance goes. Those from outside the EU have to get their ILR which can take 5 years... It's the same here; we're on a 164 business visa which means we have to prove our worth over a couple of years before we're entitled to the same benefits as Aussies... and I agree with that...

I guess what I'm saying is that the vast majority of migrants into the UK are decent, law abiding citizens who want nothing more than a chance at a better life for themselves and their own... Don't you think you could look a little more generously at them instead of condemning entire nations...? Just as you hope your new Australian neighbours will give you a 'fair go' with your new life and business on the Sunshine Coast...?

Karma for this mate

Me and OH have been talking about the situation over in the UK at the moment with the car bombs and car jacking at Glasgow, and he said "Just get all of the extremists out of the country. Stick them on a ship and steer it towards a muslim nation somewhere"

Ok, that's an idea, but just imagine the fallout that would happen whilst they were all being rounded up to be shipped off somewhere. There would be unlimited terror attacks as they tried to create as much havoc as possible prior to their departure. Also, where does the line of extremists end? When one dies in the name of Allah, there are 100 more ready to take his/her place.

This is such a sad situation for all of the innocent, hard-working, law abiding citizens in the UK, be they black/white/mixed race or whatever, because the majority will be tainted by the brush of the minority.

So, what's the answer? How does the UK stop this from happening again?
