Now here's an idea (hear me out, it's a bit odd-ball, but I think it'd work).
How about instead of the Queen, we get to elect a head of state every four or five years, who is a dead historical person, so they have no actual power. The country then has to act in the spirit of the dead person with every policy. So if we elected Bob Marley, everyone has to chill out. We could elect Janis Joplin and the government issues a bottle of Southern Comfort as a tax stimulus. I reckon it's a winner :thumbup: |

...and how much backup/entourage would that post start to acquire?. How much would it be a direct rival to the Prime Minister?. As for the House of Lords... isn't that still Australia's highest legal court?. It could be the same as the Irish President. Doesn't have to be a rival to the PM. |
