Re: Australia has the strongest economy in the developed world
Ah, so now you are saying that by calling someone a plank and allowing others to (and I think encourage ) do similar is in the spirit of being a moderator?
What I can see here is a posse of mods all backing each other up just because you are mods.
Congratulations on your insular policies of circling the wagons.
Now what is good for the goose is good for the gander, yes?
So I think you are plank and all the other mods on here who have banded together to defend the abuse of one.
Plank is okay then, is it, plank?
How does that feel, plank?
Now I wonder...

Looks like you stepped over the edge. There will be more, (far worse than you too).

In Melbourne, the unemployment rate has gone up to 6.2% (was 4.5% a year ago).
Easy to fill the seats on the bus to make them wheels go round n round.
ie going downhill no one minds extra weight on board

Its an odd phenomena on BE.
If I say the climate scientists may be wrong because I don't see things the way they do, then I am a fool - how can I dispute these learned chaps with impeccable backgrounds.
But if say the IMF says Australia is doing ok, then the IMF is stacked with idiots (despite most of them being better qualified than the climate scientists...)
Discuss further.

Climate is an immensely complex subject that almost no-one is capable of evaluating individually.
Economics, despite what the intelligentsia feed us, is no more than a household budget writ large, with the same fundamentals except that governments can fudge the figures for longer by stealing (taxing) more and printing money.
I well remember the look of scorn on the financial advisor's face six years ago when we turned down his advice to place our super fund money in managed funds, because we could see the way the financial world was headed.

History shows this forum rounds on 'newcomers' who ruffle feathers with manic behaviour or start negative too soon (when they are still an unknown entity). Starting lots of threads that end up troublesome can do it too.
Looks like you stepped over the edge. There will be more, (far worse than you too).

My issue here is simple.
There is a moderator who thought (as a moderator) it was okay to call me a 'plank'.
Harmless enough you think? We'll yes, if your not on the receiving end.
Let's define plank.
plank Noun. An idiot. Derog.
(UK, slang) A stupid person.
plank - an idiot, fool. e.g. "You complete plank !".
Now whether that person thinks I am or not, is inconsequential. They are in a position on this forum to uphold the forum rules.
Site Rules
1. Personal Attacks
BritishExpats.com is an interactive site, and everyone who participates is "in it together", please treat others the way you wish to be treated. Personal attacks will not be tolerated. Challenge others' points of view and opinions, but do so respectfully and thoughtfully ... without insult or personal attack.
The moderator should know better. But more than that, they allow others to do so, without pulling the whole thing back and worst: the posse of moderators all arrive, including the chief moderator, to blindly back up the person who makes the insult.
So, we have forum rules and we have the people who write and uphold the rules, breaking them when it is in their interests to do so.
I call that corruption.
corruption - lack of integrity or honesty; use of a position of trust for dishonest gain

Hardly a newcomer: I have been a member for 7 years - because I do not immerse my life in the site and have 50k posts, doesn't mean I should not have the same respect as someone who does.

Evidence to the contrary.
I will take up the issue by PM, for I can see that the moderators, in public at least, are prepared to circle the wagons.
An apology of course would be out of the question, because that would mean backing down.

Sue has also said (let me quote)... "no mod has abused you."

Dear oh dear.
Anyway, I suppose to stick to the requests of the moderators we should get back on tack.
Australia has not got a strong economy.
Strength comes from within. Australia rests on a Chinese crutch.
