Ian Bell's gonna win the Ashes for England.

http://www.espncricinfo.com/the-ashe...ry/487651.html

Ian Bell sounded an ominous Ashes warning for Australia with a dominant century on a rain-affected second day in Hobart.

Dominated the third day too. Always been a big fan of Bell.

For England's sake I hope Swann stays fit because Panesar can't bowl for shit. Pietersen needs to step up too.

I thought Panesar bowled OK today, he was unlucky not to get a couple ... not as threatening as Swann obviously but at least he aint Ashley Giles ...

Pietersen is starting to look like the weakest link, I'll give you that ... let's hope his ego rises to the big occasion.

I think if any team could say that Kevin Pietersen was their weekest link, they would be pretty content! KP's form does not bother me, so long as the others around him continue to do well. So far, Collingwood has prepared very well, as well as Bell and Strauss. Trott is probably another innings away from being ready, but I have no doubt that he will get there soon. Cook still worries me, but we'll see.

Ah yeh, Cook is more of a worry ... he is more likely to get bogged down, something that KP is unlikely to do and could hit himself into form ...

Bell and Collingwood looked really good today and Bresnan was pretty effective with the ball too

England will reverse the last debacle here and do it to them. I have a carton riding on them wining by white wash with my ex boss

Yeah, Bresnan is a bit unfortunate that Finn hit such fine form against weak opposition coz he would have probably been picked otherwise. He's always been handy with the bat and would have meant that Jimmy would be our #11 batsman if he were in the side. Not a bad tail to have, given that our number 8 has a century to his name and in my eyes Swann, our number nine is also very capable of one too!

I have an ongoing wager through the series of a $10 scratchie with one of my more obnoxious customers - 4 years ago it cost me $50, this time I think I will fare a lot better

If Sydney's rainy summer is Australia wide then I reckon a 1-0 England win.

A nice selection dilemma to have ... I wonder if Cricket Australia have trimmed their rugby side down to cricketing proportions yet?

I have it on good authority, that Robbie Deans was overheard this week muttering these words when looking at the Italy team

"Please don't embarrass us any further"
