Righty, just got a few wines under my belt so relaxing after a day of watching uncouth redneck convicts get silly in the sun

Anyway, the important points:
1- Siddle, well done, well deserved, humble pie consumed
2- England, below par score, must try harder but not a disaster
3- Johnson, Strike Bowler My Arse
4- Bell, Pietersen, Cook -Top work, can build on that

Day One down, Australia's day no doubt but still work to be done, disheartened? No.

The ebb and flow of a series is a wonderful thing and I, for one, enjoyed today despite it not being an England runfest ... I still say bowling first would have been the go

Agree. 260 is not a great score but it's not the end of the world - I though 350 would have been good. England bowlers need to keep it simple - straight and full. I reckon Swann will have a say too.

Pointless trying to reason with the natives, give it up and leave their primitive minds to it ... think of it as observing evolution in action, it's quite educational

Thanks to Queensland Rail I missed the first over of the day ... the sound of the wicket falling outside Gate 4 was not a happy one ... next time I will collect my ticket prior to the first day ...

Much banter on 'Saffers' that seemed to be defused by the mention of that most of Australian names ... Kepler Wessels.

I think England can still do it but what a case of deja vu. Aus look unprepared and down, England look well prepared and upbeat and then the Aussies crank it up a gear and do their usual very good job.

In fairness, there were no soft dismissals today for a change. All down to good bowling.
