apple tv

We have all the video, etc on the QNAP and stream it through to the PH...
The QNAP also has built in bit torrent, iTunes server, Time Machine backup, and all sorts of other stuff including RAID... The PH has a bay for a drive which we filled in no time but it works so well off the QNAP we haven't bothered to use it for ages... The QNAP has remote management so I logon from anywhere and get it to download files when I'm away for watching later...
Takes a bit of setting up but when it's running it's very slick and easy to use...
The PH has something where it goes online and tries to recognise all your films, etc and then comes back and sorts them into categories with the front page of the DVD/whatever that it's found... makes it very easy...
Haven't used anything else so can't compare but this setup is pretty good for me...

As soon as it arrives off goes Foxtel... or the phone call to Foxtel and the supposed half price or less chat with their retention team 2 days before cut off.

yeah i tried that after seeing people on here talking about it
put me straight through to the cancellation team without even trying to talk me around with ANY discounts
i rang them up a couple of days later to cancel the cancellation as the missus and kids would have killed me without proper tv

right im ready to ditch foxtel once and for all ( unless they halve my bill )
is this apple tv one of the best ways to view online content (on the tv not computer as i have 3 young boys )
am pretty shite with setting things like this up so need the simplest of devices
i have just looked it up and see that this works with the ipad / iphone so that is all good
can the apple tv work well with wifi as this is a rental and i dont want to be running cables unless i really have to
what is the best way to watch / save your programmes . subscribe to bbc iplayer ( any others ), does this show the free to air programmes here in oz ?
also what about sports like the footy (english) how / where do you watch this online
cheers
steve

Justin TV... etc..... I'll try and get you a list or URL's. They work but it's a bit grainy. You can even get the A league or any other league on them. Turkish.... Costa Rican... etc etc you name it, it's there.

Try Justin Tv out for yourself right now... and give a couple of these a go.... I'll try and find out from my non foxtel owning freinds which ones work presently.... because they tend to work for a while then move to another site. Best place to look is on your own teams Forum.

well well well
just rang up foxtel to finally cancel my subscription and after a 2 minute chat we agreed to half price subscription for the next 2 months
seeing as i was paying $137 per month ( platinum multi room ) its a nice saving
i tried this 6 months ago when i broke my leg and they were having none of it they even sent the package out for me to send one of the boxes back
gonna give it the 2 months and tell them i want it full time half price and try and upgrade to the newer boxes for a small fee
they can only say no
funny as i was reading that link on whirlpool and loads of people were saying that the discounts had dried up since they had had a load of subscriptions for the AFL
wasnt expecting anything to be honest and was going to buy that apple tv tonight

Can you set the DNS or IP address on the WDTV Live to give it a US IP address to get Hulu/Netflix?
Or do you have to to all that on the gateway?
