Hi, i'm another Brit in Cairns. Arrived 2 months ago and loving it. A load of the English turned up to meet me at the local Tavern in Trinity Beach and they were all really friendly and went out of their way to meet us feel welcome- THANKS GUYS !
Since met up with some other British too. We've really settled in, my son has started school and I start work shortly. Keep looking on the site as I think another social is due soon.: |

At home he had just finished year 9, he has gone back into year 9 here just for the final 3 months of term then will go into year 10 in January. We did that on purpose so that he had a three month settling in period.

Re: anyone going to or in cairns??
Do you know what school they will be going to yet? Jamie ( my son) has started at Smithfield. He didn't really have a big problem making friends, most of the kids were really friendly. It helps if they have a sport though. Jamie is into basketball so found his way at lunchtimes to where the boys were playing. He has said that there are way more girls in his classes than boys though. Is that a problem ? or good to a teenager !!!
