Oh and asked about the isolated electrical switches and he said you only need those if there's not enough power to the home, but were okay there.

Wonder what's eating up your power if you've not got the air con on
have you tried switching things off one by one and seeing if the meter slows down? Usually its the hot water heater that's doing the damage.

Daikin are great, we have Daikin. Im also a fridgy !
You will need sparate isolator, both at the outdoor unit, and also in the fuseboard ( mcb )
Adds about 200 bucks to a job on average.

Incidentally, if you can afford it, go with the climate zone system
