Thanks for the LG tip. We're leaning towards Fujitsu at the moment so that's good to hear it's been good for you.
I don't run the heating and cooling I've got just now all the time so will treat the new unit the same...tho sometimes it's hard not to be a big pussy esp with the heat.

Fujitsu are good. I paid about $5500 for 3 split systems installed. I got $750 cashback on the Fujitsu units too.

We have 2 x Mitsubishi split systems, installed 3 years ago. Can't remember how much they cost now.
Decided that we would replace them this year with ducted, and the very nice Irish guy who is our local air conditioning expert told us that he wouldn't swap them for ducted as he thought they were doing a brilliant job.
The only reason I wanted to change from split systems to ducted was that I was sick of looking at the units!
We set ours at 24, when we use them, and this keeps the house very comfortable.
Do remember that you will have to have what they call "isolated electrical switches" installed for them.
I have a friend who installed split systems and didn't have the isolated electrical switches installed (to save money). Turned out that when they used the air conditioners they couldn't use a lot of their electrical appliances because the electricity would trip out.
Hope this helps.

Panasonic are very reliable and economical to run (4 star)... I'm after an 8kw inverter myself.. just got quoted $2095 for the unit itself which seems OK..

Dont touch LG we bought a split system for our kitchen/dinning room which was installed on the 7/12 and brokedown on the 27/12 its a very long story and with record temps and was eventually fixed on the 29/02 by them flying over parts and an engineer from the east coast!!!!

I'm going mental with the heat here. Our evaporative system has died so I'm in the process of getting quotes for reverse cycle inverter systems. Can anybody recommend a good system? Had quotes for Fujitsu,Mitsubishi,Daikin and Panasonic so far. If you have any of these, have you had any problems etc?

Yup! This is exactly what happened to us so beware the potential extra bill.
