Airconditioners

I'm going mental with the heat here. Our evaporative system has died so I'm in the process of getting quotes for reverse cycle inverter systems. Can anybody recommend a good system? Had quotes for Fujitsu,Mitsubishi,Daikin and Panasonic so far. If you have any of these, have you had any problems etc?

Who knows....I have just got my first electricity bill for my new house $350 for three months and that was without the a/c on....I am terrified about winter and the ducted heating.

I try not to run my heating and cooling during the day but this never ending heatwave is driving me round the bend so bugger the bill! I burst into tears yesterday for no reason other than it's like a sauna in here. I've got another quote in half an hour but I'm no wiser as to which one to put in.Aggh.

I'm hoping to stock up on cosy slippers and flanelette pjs and I've a stack of blankets in the laundry cupboard which I'll be hiding under this winter lol. I'm not mean, and I don't mind putting the heating on, but I quite like having a nice bath, then getting cosy under a blanket with the TV on:) and a steaming hot chocolate or horlicks:).

Yup, nothing like a pair of socks, a thermal vest and flanelette pjs and a Dora The Explorer blanket to get my OH in the mood

Sorry OP, this isn't helping :o

Most of the AC systems sold these days are pretty good. All of the 4 mentioned have been producing and selling their stuff for a long time and can be considered brand names.

Check the price and timing before you decide.

BTW I think that the weather is great at the moment.

We had a Daikin installed as soon as we could after moving into our house. Its a reverse cycle so we can have heat in he winter.Have to say I installed it more for the heating element than the cooling as we had a terribly cold winyter in our rental last year. We`ve not used it much as Sydney has had a cool summer and our house is double brick but on the few occasions we`ve used it its cooled down bedrooms fairly quickly. Unfortunately our electricity could not support the system so we had to have complete overhaul of the electrics in the house. Watch out for that as it adds a considerable cost and we were certainly not expecting that. A/c was about$13,000 electricity cost $2,000.We had 4 quotes and chose Daikin because it seemd to be the best and the salesman was amusing!!!!!

I'm glad you're enjoying the weather,I'm near crazy with it!

i've just had my last quote. For Fujitsu he's $1000 dearer than my first quote for the same system. My Scottish money saving senses are twitching...I think the first guy's the winner.:D

I had the Daikin guy out yesterday but he was a bit pricey and it's not a mansion so I've already ruled that one out but I was drawn to it as it seemed to have a good reputation.:)

We have Fujitsu inverters. They are superb and am very happy with their performance - both cooling and heating. Sure, they are not the cheapest thing to run but you only need to run them when it very hot/cold. So they are off most of the time - unless you are a big pussy.

I've heard good things about Mitsubishi. Avoid LG.

Daikin all the way. Probably the most expesnive but VERY good quality.

Agree with LG comment.

Daikin are widely thought to be the best...

Thanks for the LG tip. We're leaning towards Fujitsu at the moment so that's good to hear it's been good for you. :)
I don't run the heating and cooling I've got just now all the time so will treat the new unit the same...tho sometimes it's hard not to be a big pussy esp with the heat.:D

Yeah I agree but I'm on a budget with a few other house repairs to do yet so I'm after the next best thing. I always believe in buying the best you can afford but unfortunately Daiken is a fair bit over what we'd budgeted for.:)
