However bananas are often sold in australia at $2 a kilo. That is similar to the UK price and as far as I am aware no child labour is used.

The current price is just profitering and last time bananas were this sort of price ( actually saw some in melb for $17 a kilo :eek: ) many banana farmers became multi millionaires.

Coles and woolworth probably made even more.

I can still buy nanas for $2 akilo from out local markets, the guy selling them is making a tidy profit and getting more for them at the market then he says coles and woolworth will currently pay him. So if thats true its one hell of a markup.

Checked the docket when I got home and the four banans had cost more than $11!

I have now advised family there will be no more bananas until the price comes down. :frown:
