The more Indians we have here, the more India will deal with us and the more Australia can feel it has a right to be part of the Far East in a political sense.

This country needs to rapidly increase its percentage of Asians as part of the population to save severe political problems in the future, especially when China becomes the worlds dominant power. Our Kids are definitely going to see that time.

If we have a mix from all over Asia then the more friends we have in a political sense especially locally... considering the world shift in power.

The last thing we need to be seen as is the last bastion of white european colonialism.... without any friends in Asia ... especially if China gets to the stage where it can do what it wants.

Plus it can only help trade.

Indians will trade with Australia just as long as they can see a profit. The presence of expat Indians or Australians of Indian descent will have bugger all effect. Plenty of Africans of Indian descent, they must be stealing "our" trade.

When China starts invading, we push all the Australians of Chinese descent out front - they would not dare slaughter their own gene lines?

We already have a more than adequate sufficiency of immigrants - Asian or otherwise.

Adding more brings in money short term only, unless the rate of immigration keeps accelerating.

Why turn Australia into a pigsty like parts of Asia? For short term cash flow.

History shows that Empires do not pass away peacibly. If China tries to supplant the US, in areas where the US is not happy to let it do so, then you can expect conflict.... serious conflict.

There will be a crossover of power eventually though... hopefully by that time we are seen as a real part of Asia...... With an Aussie accent speaking English hopefully ;)

My doctor has what sounds like an Indian name and looks to be of Indian descent and may be an Indian expat for all I know - I haven't asked and he has not insisted that I know.

It may surprise you that there are medical schools in Australia where Australians study to qualify as Medical Doctors and Nurses.

Australians do not emigrate in significant numbers - there is no pressing need - they have a satisfactory homeland.

If you read the relevant posts on the topic, the person saying that, was including ALL immigrants to Australia, including British. I don't think he was being racist, but as usual the rascism card is automatically played.

My reading of his posts indicated that he meant the country would be empty if we had had no immigrants, therefore an empty country = no people = no crime.

Your post and that murder have a similarity. Racism is immediately accused without really knowing the real story.

However, I am glad to see that not every migrant jumps to accuse racism first though.

The number of British that get assaulted in Australia, per 100,000 of population is very similar to the number of Indians that get assaulted.

Perhaps it's time the British had demonstrations to complain aswell ?

We need immigrants to fill industry gaps and grow our population. We are a nation of immgirants and we'll always be a nation of immigrants. This is a good thing.

For all her faults, Australia is still a multicultural success story.

The Indian doctors are upset. They feel they are singled out because of their ethnic origin and religious affiliations.

The actual story was that 4 entire Hospitals were searched in WA, and only FOUR Indian doctors were interviewed.
If FOUR Indian doctors converts to MANY Indian Doctors, in the Indian Press, what hope is there. I am sure that 4 is a very small number out of the many thousands of Indian Doctors here.
