I would have voted Megs, as about the most least likely person to get banned that I can think of. He seems to have a high intellect and someone of less brain capacity than his, has missed the bloody point, by banning him I mean.


He obviously got very wound up about the subject of free speech.

He is not a troll, and not a racist.

He is very ehhhh riddly(like, I don't get what he means about half the time)(speaks in riddles :D ) and does like to wind people up occasionally.

But he is definetly not racist. If you think just because he used the word paki(not offensive in Australia, and not in The Netherlands either, though I still wouldn't use it, because I know it's offensive in the UK) he is racist, well that's stupid.
If he's said something like: 'all paki's are stupid', or 'all paki's can't read', then yes, that is racist.

But I don't see that he has.

All he's guilty of is not listening to an administrator when she told him to stop using it. And the reason she did that... well, it is a British forum I guess, and HER forum, so she can do what she wants. (not that I agree with the banning ;) )

Ive been thinking the same, & the more he / she ruffles the feathers in here the more he/she sits back laughing.

Hopefully Megs is only on a short term ban, his posts will be sadly missed.

Totally agree with you, not sure what happened and dont have the time to trawl back through all the different posts to find out, but im stunned that Megs has been deleted. id say of all the info ive seen on here id put him on a par with ABC as one of the most knowledgeable people to post.
Will definitely be missed by me.

I might be new around here but I think it unlikely that someone with over 4,000 to their name posts is a troll.

You must have pretty big shoulders to carry that chip around all the time.

My sentiments exactly. It's easy to pass judgement on someone without any real understanding of them.
Megalania's posts were always of the highest quality and certainly enriched this forum.
Shame the same couldn't be said for me. :D

Seriously though, if this place is getting too much for you so that you are going to blow a gasket, then get away. Switch off the pc, step outside and get back to reality.

Jules and I have been through (and are still going) through the mill recently but so many people here showed how much they care. I took time off BE, but didn't forget what a great bunch of people are here.

I'm hoping I've come back to the same forum?

I think Megs was trying to make the point that he should be able to use the work 'Paki' in a non-offensive, non-racial way(so just as an abbreviation for Pakistani), he is an Aussie), so he kept using it. That got him banned.


Someone else should be able to find a good definition of a troll on the web somewhere

Megs was on yesterday, and kept on making a play on the word "P*k!" some sort of protest about another thead I think.

A Troll means many things to different people, I've only ever encountered this term on here. Never seen it on any other BBS on any other Site.

So my interpretation, is someone that someone else doesn't like, the main common theme being someone that likes to argue, Trouble with that is, it gets applied to anyone that argues sometimes.

Megs got banned for disobeying orders, by the lady with access to the banning button.

Comes from the fishing term 'Trolling' ie posting something inflammatory, looking for a bite.

Kind of true, however I would put it as the person that most likes to take offence has the ruling vote, by using an ill informed but probably pushed for time and well meaning mod, as a weapon. Hope this mod realises she has been used as a puppet.

I Dont mean to single anyone out, but in my book it means the lowest common denomenator (sp) rules.

It really does come down to freedom of speech.

So maybe Megs was acting in a 'Troll like fashion' with his last posts, but IMO he was just a poster who tried to engage in serious discussions / debates that may upset or imflame others.

If megalania was not a troll (Past tense) then why the need for multiple identities, most of which have been banned.

Why come on here this morning and post a thread - now deleted - that stated that descendants of paki's have smaller brains than normal people?

Why send messages calling me personally a paki when I have told him a number of times I was born in Britain? Free speech my arse.

It seems to me that this guy had a lot of you fooled and used his intellect to wrap quite a few of you around his finger, more fool you. He did not have me fooled and I am really glad he won't be around here to post anymore because he was a very nasty piece of work and a racist bigot.

I realise that I won't be very popular but I don't give a monkeys, this is the internet and none of you on here know me or ever will, I choose to come on here as and when I please and do not have to answer to any of you as long as I stick within the rules.
