It`s only noisy when a plane goes over but if you turn the chilli peppers up loud enough you can hardly hear them!

Mawson Lakes has the reputation for Mozzies, but also the hobby planes take off and land right low overhead everyday. I went to St Kilda which has no beach, just mangroves and mud flats and the mozzies attacked me, I stayed in the car. Didn't seem to like the taste of hubby and kids though, but that was in the summer...

The northern beaches (upto North haven) are vast and quiet with lovely dunes and the odd container ship entering into Port Adelaide.....

I found the northern beaches very nice but were very heavy with deep seaweed which stunk a bit.Beaches south of glenelg did`nt seem to have that problem or do they clear the weed more often.Whole adelaide coast is good although I dont fancy the flightpath at west beach and glenelg north ,not to mention the stench from the stagnant water at glenelg north. However after living on a bus route in romford for 12 years maybe I`m being a little fussy oh yes

Basically I think we all have different needs and those need will determine where best to live.

I am not a big fan of the Eastern suburbs, think they are lovely, but not really my cup of tea. It's a bit too trendy for me. However if I was in my 20s I would probably go for it.

Funny, but I never think of St Kilda as being part of Adelaide. I tend to think of Grand Junction Road as being the cut off as the city and the rest is satellite.

Mash, you are probably right about Mawson's Lake and the mozzies because of the area it is in. I haven't been there for 3 years so not sure how it has developed in that time.

I love North Haven because it is uncrowded and it is great watching the ships sailing across to Port Adelaide. There has never been a smelly seaweed problem when I have been there.

Hi maybe it was just the few times we were there with the seaweed thing,at that time it was about 3 feet deep and you had to climb over it to get to the waters edge.I loved north haven marina and looked at the houses built over the water ,shame they`ve gone up so much in the last 2 years.

I would be worried to hire your lot for my move now in case you start slinging tea chests and smashing my furniture up. Once you have calmed down and stopped being green, have a butcher's at your clothes. Are they all ripped and you don't remember where you are? You haven't done a move for a gamma radiation lab lately have you?

As you say, mate, you are an open book. And a bloody boring book it is too.

As I said before, if I told you where I live you would take it as a booking and I would not want your mob round my place smashing up my gear while you chuck it in the back of your van. You have been very aggressive on this site of late and I suspect you are overdosing on the viagra and essence of shark again. Half a tablet mate, just half a tablet.

Get a place on a hillside, you get breezes there too. We are on a hillside, huge block, views across to the sea. Half an hour to everywhere and it blew a gale last night.

When you arrive I'll give you a tour of areas, be open minded.
We were 100% going to live in Gawler, but didn't in the end, although still hanker after it...

Name some suburbs I'll give you a brief profile....

Mash...
That's a very kind offer, mash, I'll take you up on that if you don't mind. I'll name some suburbs that we've been looking at tonight when I come home from work.

Sorry to be so brief, I'll write more later.

Thanks again,

Steve.

Mash...

Skungy (adj) : Scummy, Slummy, Scuzzy, Low Rent, Not nice.

Mmmmmmm seems a bit rich YOU telling ME to take my time to look around. I have lived here for almost a year and have looked around extensively at almost every area. I have also spoken to many people who live in various areas to get their take on what it's like living there. (Hence my knowledge about crime and high school drop out rates in those areas).

You, meanwhile have lived here a grand total of 7 weeks, yet have already formed an opinion about everything and are telling people to "Name an Area and I will give you a Profile".

Why on earth are you so abrasive towards everyone?

I'd say I was being ironic and bemused rather than abrasive.

Just found it rather ironic that I was being told to "take the the time to look around and decide what you want" by a relative newcomer who obviously hadn't.

Anyway, Abrasiveness is Aussie Trait # 1 so I'd say that I was assimilating very nicely thank you.

Well MM you're obviously itching for a barney so, shall we meet at City Cross (which I clearly remember you labelling as skungy) and have it out ??

Maybe there will be some friendly rats about the place sharing bread crumbs with the resident sparrows.

i think mash may have got a bit upset coz you criticised the northern areas -which i believe is the area she loves and has made home..
and she was only really picking up on the possible spelling mistake skungy instead of skunky to highlight that..

however i don't feel she's actually 'having a pop' at you at all when she say's 'decide/decide etc'

i feel that she's just being general and saying that we should ALL stay awhile and look around before making sweeping statements

however i'm only standing up for her coz she fancies me rotten...;-)

cheers

richard
