PB, I actually thought that 2FS was your brother (only for a minute), but then realised that he is too much of a pratt.

Some have used a lot stronger words about me , he has his opinions in my book should voice them , the guy has strong points and should post them you do not have to like them .
Its good that you are in America the panning that you give the yanks , I dread to think of the back handers you would have given the poms had you gone to to the UK.

PB, my hubby is British, incase you forgot. I have nothing against Poms. I am also a first gen. Aussie (Brit parents). 2FS might have strong points, but he lacks tact and is just down right rude. I am sure he must have some things he likes about OZ, but have not read any as yet. If he was that unhappy, he wouldn't have been there for 30 years (isn't that what you said 2FS).

You seem to be tainted with a alot of Pom one or another , knocks your street cred a bit as an Aussie girl .
You have grown up in Perth which has a large Brit population , 2fs has had to put up with more anti-poms at school being in Melbourne more Greeks than any other race.
If you had been singled out as the Pommie bastard at school your views would be nearer his.

Are you going to tell me that you never have get togethers with friends in your own home or their homes (that is if you have any friends). If you don't socialise with people, you are a sad sad case.

We are actually capable of having a few drinks without getting sh@t faced you know.
Sue,

I wouldn't bother wasting my time replying to posts like 2FS's and many of PBs. Their comments about the BBQs show they appear to have little of substance to offer, or else choose not to offer it. They cloud any valid points that they might have with insane rantings. This entire thread is of no value to anyone considering a move to Oz, though it is quite amusing at times.

Great very open minded , pray what would you like to hear just run some bull off now .
BBQ s are the best way to spend your social time apart from meeting the same dull people week after week who run out of things to talk about after 10 minutes , theres the under or over cooked offerings to had nearly all will help you on your way to a heart attack , and if its chicken you live in the tolet for most of the next day.
But these jolly get togethers are great time for getting falling down drunk bit naughty if you driving watch out for the booze buses afterwards the police are not very sporting theses days.
Bugger it I'll walk down the pub more going on and better beer.

Please PTLabs- I know about free speech and stuff but surely you have allowed PB and TFS enough air space? They have no relevance to this web site and the genuine emigrants (like me) seem to spend their entire time fighting to get them off rather than talking about relevant migration subjects. Can I please aks again for a poll where we can choose whether we want them banned??

Well PB,
What are you waiting for, get off your backside and move to America.

Geez PB, you don't think that 2fs might have bought that upon himself???? One never knows.

BTW I was born in NSW, not Perth. Moved there when I was young.

I SPEND A LOT OF TIME WITH MY FRIENDS - ON A DAILY BASIS AND WE NEVER RUN OUT OF THINGS TO SAY. WE OFTEN CHAT 'TIL 4 IN THE MORNING. SO NONE OF US ARE DULL.. I THINK YOU NEED TO GET NEW FRIENDS

theres the under or over cooked offerings to had nearly all will help you on your way to a heart attack , and if its chicken you live in the tolet for most of the next day.

WE KNOW HOW TO COOK A BBQ, THE YANKS LOVE IT - COOKED TO PERFECTION EVERY TIME....AND I AM A CHICKEN COOKER - NOT KEEN ON RED MEAT AND HAVE NEVER ENDED UP IN TO BOGGER THE NEXT DAY, NOR HAS ANYONE ELSE..

But these jolly get togethers are great time for getting falling down drunk bit naughty if you driving watch out for the booze buses afterwards the police are not very sporting theses days.

SOMETIMES WE DO GET ROLLING DRUNK OTHER TIMES WE DON'T, JUST DEPENDS HOW WE FEEL AT THE TIME. AND AS I POINTED OUT, THEY ALL WALK HOME.

SORRY YOU HAVE NO ARGUMENT WHEN IT COMES TO MY CIRCUMSTANCES..HA HA..........

Nope, I am as Aussie as you can get them, I am not a loud mouthed Ocker, but can ramble with the best of them. I might have Brit ancestry but I was born and raised there. My Mum has been there since she was 6, so has my hubby. SO not losing any cred - and how could I lose any cred if I come from a Brit background...... BTW my hubbys ancestors can drink with the best of them!!

... or how about some of your generalisations, wide sweeping statements, exaggerations and putdowns instead ? Yes, very informative and useful.

BBQ s are the best way to spend your social time apart from meeting the same dull people week after week who run out of things to talk about after 10 minutes ,
More of those exaggerations again. If your friends run out of things to say after 10 minutes, get different friends. Oh, but of course, you'll come back and say that ALL Australians are like this and you can't find any other friends because we're ALL the same. Blah, blah, blah, exaggerations, generalisations, etc., etc., etc.

theres the under or over cooked offerings to had nearly all will help you on your way to a heart attack , and if its chicken you live in the tolet for most of the next day.
While you're out looking for friends with better conversation skills, make sure they can cook better as well.

Never had a problem with chicken. Not at my house, not at anyone else's house. If you have that problem all the time, ask your doctor about it. Maybe you've got some allergy or sensitivity to chicken.

But these jolly get togethers are great time for getting falling down drunk.
Again, depends on who you hang out with. Change friends if this bothers you. It would certainly bother me.

bit naughty if you driving watch out for the booze buses afterwards the police are not very sporting theses days.
And neither should they be. Good for the cops! Throw the book at the idiots.

Try being a Wog in the 60's and putting up with the Skips giving you a hard time of it. No anti-bullying policies in schools then. They were loud and nasty about it too, as were their parents. Big deal. You get over it. Maybe we've got thicker skin and bigger cajones than some of the Poms when it comes to this. Now, being a Wog is a badge of honour. You see rego plates like Wog Stud, or t-shirts that say: Wogs Do It Betta. Different era though. Before PC so you had to stand up and shove it back in their faces. Now everyone gets all offended at anything and everything, even looking for slights where there are none, running off to human rights tribunals over ... words. Cry me a river! I agree that Australians could do with a bit more sensitivity sometimes, without succumbing to blind political correctness though. And some people are far more sensitive than others. I never let it make me bitter or hateful. I don't know, I'm just that way. Maybe the one with two fingers isn't.

Having Brit parents Sue is iffy , if you were second generation you may have got away with been an Aussie but both parents Brits that does taint you never mind just keep it under wraps no Ocker would have you as a Aussie.
I am surprise that your BBQ crowd can all walk home , do you such a limited circle of friends that they all live with in a few streets.
Knocked back a BBQ at the weekend not easy , weighted it up the OB has good food live music 3 bars with a terrace , good selection of beers and loads more people to have the crack with compared to to iffy food a 20 minute drive to sit in some ones backyard sorry the OB won.
Saved my gut from the greasy mess that is a BBQ , when we when back to UK on holiday every one put on a BBQ we would bunk off down to a local pub , I would rather have a good chip shop dinner.
