This has been discussed at length before. A lot depends on where you are heading to. If its Brisbane or the NT's then maybe your old fridge wouldn't be up to the job. If its somewhere slightly cooler then there is no reason why it wouldn't be ok.

Bear in mind that even if it is in Brisbane then the house is likely to be air conditioned and so would it be an issue. The consensus from before is that if your stuff is in good condition and not that old then take it. If you have had it for a few years then maybe worth buying new.

Still think we'll be ditching ours as its quite old, but might prove useful to others in similar situation.

But also bear in mind even if the house is a/c are you going to leave the a/c on 24x7 even when you are not their. In QLD the houses soon warm up with all doors and windows during most of the year.

Very true Kiwipaul,

Luckily for me it wont be a problem..........mainly cos I'm not going to Brisbane.

Sunny Melbourne for me whihc hopefully shouldn't be as bad for as long.
