OK You've sold it to me, sounds absolutely perfect. I'm on my way (just as soon as I get my visa!!).

Hey OzzieW

I live in Coolum, and am a draughtsman too. I've been over here just over a year and a half and found finding CAD work pretty hard up here. After looking extensively on the Sunshine Coast with little success, I resorted to looking in Brisbane, however a position came up on the SC and I'm now doing electrical draughting work just down the road from Buderim. Wages are much lower than Brisbane, but then you have to weigh that up with working and living up in this area compared to Brissie. Having said that, (my experience is in mechanical and electronic design), there is a lot of work in the architectural and civil fields up here on the SC.

If you need any more info or some architectural contacts on the SC(I deal with one in particular through my job, and know of a few more) pm me and I'll be glad to help.

Cheers,

Colin

Thanks Colin, some contacts would be really helpful.
We're leaving here in November so would like to set up some interviews in December. Spending a couple of weeks in WA to see friends/relatives on the way. Can't wait!!!!

Buderim is beautiful - we moved to the Sunshine Coast (Little Mountain in Caloundra) in February from Hertfordshire and do not regret one minute of it. The natives are charming, the food is cheap, the weather is good (apart from this week when we have had torrential rain - but the garden needs it) Blimey, I am beginning to sound like an Aussie !!!!!

We don't have to worry about work as we have retired here so we can spend all day admiring the views - just beautiful.

Hi
Just got back from Queensland ( stayed in Maroochydore ) what a lovely place and travelled quite a bit around the sunshine coast area. From our own investigations building work is going on for at least the next 2 -3 years so I can't see any problems finding that job. Anyway, I just wanted to reply and let you know that we live in Hampton just up the road and are heading for the Sunshine Coast ourselves. Tracey
