It is going to get hot towards the end of this week - 32C! Anything over 24C and I start wilting. I love Melbourne in Autumn/Spring and don't really mind the winters here. Summers are just bad. I'm glad we're leaving at the beginning of Dec, I really can't stand the oppressive heat and the blazing sun in summer.

We were up at Kyneton today, about an hours drive north west of Melbourne. Small but severe thunderstorm passed just to the south when we were there...very slow moving though so we ended up driving straight through it on the way home! It was doing its very best to make landfall!

Oh yeah, temp check...it was about 18C up there, 15C in the rain and 24C back in Melbourne. :D

Just got the edge of that storm. Had a bit of hail but hardly any rain. Gisborne got hit by the core of the storm and had heavy rain and 2cm hail apparently.

The cloud hanging halfway to the ground is a wall cloud but in the last photo it's a funnel that didn't make landfall. We do get the occasional tornado around here.

It was definitely trying to get there...at that point the whole bottom of it was spinning. I was a bit concerned about hail but we managed to avoid it!

That's when you need a Hummer, tank or otherwise weatherproof vehicle. Scary stuff.

But it WILL get hot there right? ... I mean, EVERYWHERE in Australia gets hot it says in the brochure ...

Maybe not illegal, but certainly wrong! ...
