To get a visual appreciation of what's good about Melbourne I recommend the following website which has thousands of archived images and almost daily additions:

I think one word sums up not just London V Melbourne but basically the whole of the UK v most of Aus...but particuarly Melbourne.

Positivity...... .

I'm from South London as well.....Forest Hill/Catford border was my formative location for the first 18 or so years of my life. I dont notice materialism here to anywhere near the same degree I remember from the UK....However I live in the grungy north (A bit like Camden/Finchley/Angel etc) and dont really have living experience of the other side of town, even after 3 decades plus here...... I suspect things are slightly different in the South and East of Melbourne.

I'd add Melbourne with all it's facets, would make a move between London and Melbourne one of the easiest international transitions one could make....once you found your niche that is.

Totally agree. I found it phenomenally easy. I think Melbourne has all the positives London has, with few of the negatives, great beaches, better weather and better daylight hours in winter!

:-) To the OP: Just beware that a niche need not necessary be a housing estate....it doesn't have to be

Cheers

Or even it could be.... Plenty of people love "Court" living.
