Around 10 people per year are killed by deadly creatures in OZ comapred to 2,000 in car accidents, so its a big high speed v8 car driven by a drunken hoon that you should be affraid of.

I think statistically you have more chance of being killed by a bee

Had a nice 6 inch huntsman in the bathroom the other night, harmless but tends to put you off a relaxing bath.
Tend to live in the garage, and then come under the usual 1 inch cap you find under most Aussie doors.

Don't touch the creatures
Don't put your fingers in any hole in the ground or brickwork or anywhere else.
Don't mess with spider webs.
Don't go digging around under rocks in the garden.
Don't put your hands where you can't see them, such as into ferns or other plants in the garden.
If the spider is black, big and ugly with hard shell casing, leave it alone.
If the spider has stripy legs, it won't kill you. Put it outside using a container and piece of card.
If you see a snake, move well away slowly. Don't try to kill snakes... that usually turns out badly.
Lizards are nice.
Koala's have big claws and move fast... don't be fooled.
If you're in the zoo, don't ignore the warning signs.
Other than that, enjoy!

As she opened the door it jumped straight into her long hair - we both looked a bit idiotic jumping around, squealing and waving arms helplessly
