I could get my Mum to purchase and send, but I haven't got the kinda figure that I can chuck anything on and get away with it, so there could be some too-ing and fro-ing in the mail...weeks of hassle.
My only other thing is Boots' 'The Sanctuary' body souffle (it even sounds lovely!) moisturiser. I shipped 3 tubs over, but I've almost finished my 2nd
. It's just such a heavy tub, I feel I can't ask anyone to bring it over.
Mr Logan/Barina Boy, brought some Fortnum and Mason marmalade over (apparantly it's the best, ..don't know I don't eat it), and he's almost run out. :scared:

I am sooooo missing Mothercare, Boots, Next, Asda, Tesco, Marks and Spencers, B&Q, fish and chip shop, Chinese takeaway, all night petrol station (used to send hubby out for midnight supply of chocolate), and not a shop but miss a pub called the Cherry Trees in High Hoyland, Barnsley - we used to go there every Sunday for lunch and it was lovely.

I was telling her it's the same here, we have the huge Westfield shopping malls with the same chain stores in each one - Myers, Target, Coles, K Mart, Woolworths, Michel's Patisserie, Bakers Delight, Katies, Jeanswest, Foot Locker ...need I go on. These same stores have appeared in the city centre of Sydney (prob other major Oz cities too) and in most suburbs that don't even have a Westfield or other mall. If you want individual shops in Sydney, go to Mosman, Lane Cove (best kept shopping secret on the Lower north) or Northbridge. I barely buy anything in the supermarkets now other than catlitter and catfood and a few other bits and pieces. I shop at independently-owned organic shops or the organic co-operative near Newtown or mail-order. I absolutely loathe the feeling of being in one of those large stores or malls where the whole atmosphere, musak, restricted choice, purchase coercion by careful layout, customer-service-by-rote-have-a-nice-day culture predominates and the slow car-park shuffle drives me to distraction. I think the globalised world is sterile, over-medicated by chemical and pharmaceutical vested interests, and the paying public are being treated like sheep. Baaa-aa-aah humbug, I feel a lot better for getting that off my chest. Hrrmph!

[I]The new ruling elites do not care much for Christ or Muhammad, it is true, but they have a lot of religious feeling towards another old Deity, Mammon. This ancient god of greed was much loved by Pharisees, some two millennia back, as we learn from the Gospel. Jesus told them: you can not serve both God and Mammon. But Pharisees sneered at him, because they loved money’ . This faith was pushed away by the following developments. Love of Mammon became known as Avarice, one of the Mortal Sins, it was condemned by Christian and Muslim societies alike.

Shell,
Have been looking for 16 months with no joy
will let you know if i find anywhere. I think the lack of response to the question tells its own story though! Maybe a gap in the market....wonder how we could exploit that!!!Forgot though, apparently those of us that like shopping/nice clothes are sad/shallow must remember that in future

I actually miss the chain stores, Oasis, Next, Faith and Debenhams. You can't buy Red or Dead shoes here for love or money (Bugger I should have brought mine). I have absolutely no idea what the hell I am doing in the supermarkets here, I am an Asda girl, a bit of trial and error needed there. I am absolutely desolate that there is NO WALKERS CRISPS, oh woe, woe, and thrice woe.

Hi Michaela,
You're right - there is a definite gap in the market for quality childrens clothes at a reasonable price.
Well I've already resorted to looking up what I want out of the Next Directory online and then asking rellies in the uk to the items and bring it over with them when they visit next month!!
But then I am very sad/shallow eh!!!

A little bit here and there. When I visited Moloolooba I found a couple of really nice kids boutiquie shops, nice things but very pricey (especially if i have to drive up there to get anything!).
There is also a georgous ladies shop in paddington, its quite big but I cant remember the name, it sells fabulous boots and a big selection of clothes, reminded me of Zara, good prices too. There are some great clothes shops in the valley for us too but beyond everyday budget for me, special occasions only!
Shell,
I've resorted to ordering from next, getting it delivered to a friend and then she sends stuff over, doesnt satisfy the 'I need it now urges though'

Dear Lynn ,
Advance warning on the mega dissapointment that is about to happen to you.
Virgin vie is NOT available in Australia. :scared:
I have e-mailed them on many occasion since arriving here (Nov 2004) and the best I can do is order it via a friend or rep and then get it sent over by family. SO...........STOCK UP ON THE FOOT FIZZ AND LIP GLOSS NOW honey , because it is a B-I-G miss out here !!!!!!
Oh and just in case - MORGANS SPICED RUM IS NOT AVAILABLE HERE EITHER- Unless you have a spare $50 to order a 70cl bottle from Melbourne.
All the best,
Tass.
