All i can say to all you who are worrying about your weight......Get yourselves down to the GP in Harley St. Had my meds today and he didnt even check! Asked me my height and weight I could have been lying through my teeth(still had my big winter coat on at the time!) If you suspect anything is wrong with you- he is definately the doc to go to
Anyway im off for a large
Good luck all

Im so glad this has been asked, been sweating at the gym for last three weeks and eating lettuce leaves! Will look like a tortoise if I carry on!! Although its shape and mine have alot in common!!!

Im trying not to panick about the dreaded medical and do my best to eat heathily and go to gym at least 3 times a week Hmm, well it sounds good anyway! Now Ive finished my eating my packet of Frazzles, I can type properly!! When medicals crop up, bet I wont be quite to calm about them.

Good luck to one and all on a diet, enjoy those lettuce leaves!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jo
Ps Can I join Dieters for Oz too?!

Can i put his name if im criticising his thoroughness??.... If you print off the approved panel of doctors there are only two in Harley Street and his is the practice with just one doctors name!!
I kid you not. He listened to my chest OVER my top(never had that done before- normally cant wait for me to get my top off ) My eye test consisted of him looking THROUGH my glasses and saying that they were not too strong He did not ask me to step on the scales even though i was sitting right next to them and he did not measure me, just said "how tall do you think you are and what do you weigh" My pre HIV blood test counselling consisted of him saying " I get the blood tests back tomorrow i will phone you if theres a problem. You better hope you dont hear from me" :scared: Its so bad its funny........well as long as i dont hear from him tomorrow

If you are worried about your weight and belong to a gym, take your membership to the docs with you and tell him that you are on a weight reduction programme. If they see you making an effort, you shouldn't have a problem.

Every one can join the dieters for OZ! I knew this would be a good thing to ask as I have a problem with my weight although for OZ I have lost now 38 lbs. I am weighed in today at Weight Watchers so when I come back I will tell you all the verdict.
Fingers and Toes crossed!!!

As with all the above - weight doesn't really come into it unless it causes additional health problems (diabetes, etc). Although it may be the kick start for you to loose that weight. It was for me. I thought I'd better loose some before my medical and I ended up shedding 3 stone. Now feal healthy and have a visa in my hand.

Well done Lace,

nearly 40lbs go for it! Am going to join WW next tuesday, and would love to keep in touch with all other dieters for oz, shall we start a new thread with that name and then we can all keep in touch through that?

For other posters' experiences of dieting for medicals in the past do a forum search of ''the thin within''.........some good morale going on in there!!

good luck, just remember life is too short to be miserable on a diet - dont torture yourselves. Im STILL 3 stone overwight, but i now eat healthily and excercise, so im happy. I will be slimmer one day but im doing it slowly, and can honestly say im healthy.....

Here is the link.

It sounds like my weight may not be too bad. I am 5lbs away from having a BMI of under 30 (and 13 days until the medical). I think I will still push to achieve that if possible as my blood pressure is not too far from the 140/100 mark and bound to be up a bit on the day due to stress. My concern is that the BP with weight together could mean trouble. Also by trying to drop those 5lbs I may also help lower my BP too largely due to 2 1/2 weeks on the wagon)
