I think there is a secret society of desperate dieters out there. Can I join too?
Waiting (and dieting) for meds to be requested, unfortunately I won't be able to put it of for 10 years

I think a diet thread where we can report in on a regualar basis sounds great to me.

I like "desperate dieters do it for oz" - but it is a bit long

Hi

Think I read before that your BMI has to be below 30, if its over some people seem to get classified as Cat B and may be referred. They seem to be more concerned if your BP is also high. The weight watchers website has a calculator to measure your BMI is this helps http://www.weightwatchers.co.uk/heal.../calc_bmi.aspx

I could do with losing a few kgs & I passed. I think you would need to be morbidly obese to make you fail. If you were very overweight & had other health issues relating to it, then there might be a problem.

Don't worry about it too much.

Your weight is not really a big issue, ideally your BMI should be under 30, but if you are healthy and have normal BP you should be okay. If the doctor is worried you may get sent for further tests, but I have not seen anyone on here get turned down because of their weight (I could be wrong!).

Good luck though with all the pre medical dieting, I just want too lose ½ stone! but I will have to give up

I am a bit worried about this aspect as well. Not for me but my husband is on the rotund side. He is 5'10 and been told by a friend that runs weightwatchers that his weight is definitely on the excessive side at 14.8. think I will have to stop stocking the cupboard and get him to start losing now before he expands any more.

I read that if your BMI is above 35 you will be a Cat B. However, someone on this forum had a BMI above 40, and was still granted a visa. I think that they are mostly ust concerned about the associated health risks with having a high BMI. If you're otherwise healthy, you should be fine.

That would give him a BMI of 29.17

You can check your BMI on

We had our meds in jan both me and the mrs overweight verging on obese doctor told us that he would have to put it down on the medical reports.
We felt sure that, that was it visa refused but after 4 weeks of agony visas granted last week. It appears as long as you dont have TB or anything else as serious and as long as you are fit enough to work the weight issue is not as serious as we fear.Good luck in you application and try not to stress too much!!!!!!
