Think if this fellow had a little more understanding and the ability to be around folk who could comprehend the trauma that appears to be experiencing and not blame him for what life can throw out,he may well turn that corner sooner.

How do you know he hasn't had help and support? I am not blaming I'm saying we have to manage what life throws at us and often it's crap. Perhaps he has depression and needs professional help but he needs to address this himself cos no one else can change his life for him mate

.....or is that just another way of dealing with something that we don't want to think could happen to any of us.

This has happened too many times on this forum....if someone is unhappy here then the forum decides they must be depressed....it is much easier to deal with.....it is a cop out


I work with depressed people all the time.....I don't see any reason to call him depressed

So why use the term in your previous posts?

This could happen to anyone.....partners and chidren leave....people lose their jobs....people die....and people get trapped in siuations that they are powerless to change

To say it is all down to him to sort out is a convenient cop out......but it makes people feel better....... it could never happen to them could it?

I'm sure that it would be helpful for him to be pointed in the direction of the MBTTUK section by Vegemite Kids, so that he can realise that a lot of others feel like him and take some action. A lot of longer-term migrants would have no idea about the BE forum, so can be cut off in their local area, especially if they do not live or work with other British expats.

None of us are innocent bystanders in life. We make our choices or we let others make them for us. To treat him as if he's just some innocent bystander that all of this crap has happened to would be very naive. I'd like to hear what the ex-wife, old UK friends, and kids have to say about him.

Tell that to all the £10 poms and orphan children shipped over here by the thousand, who do not want to be here, can't afford to go back, and have no one to go back to after all this time.

Many of the children shipped over here do not know their families and many were told the parents were dead.

or what about the aborigines who's land we took, or people born disabled or those who have children born disabled or children or family members who have been murdered or children or family members who develop incurable cancer, or kids born starving in Africa....and on....and on....and on.....

I guess they should give up on life and focus on the shit life has thrown at them? Or maybe they should seek help of some sorts to help them through.....
